Re: Prop shaft doesn't fit through the tunnel!!??

Hi Andy,
why not correct or have the diameter corrected on a lathe?
You'd have a better chance of keeping it completely balanced.
If it really is balanced, changing the flange will damage it.

Re: Lazy Starting

Jeremy,
When you dismount the air intake box, you can do it leting the seal in place. Just unscrew the 2 wing nuts, pull gently towards and upward you to release the 2 screws and turn clockwise the box taking care to keep in line with the seal. Easy to do and good by the pig.

Re: Seat serie2 into serie 1

Hi Geoff I already have the MX5 seats in my car, Angus having strongly recommended them to me you can imagine! Sitting all the way back, I have to recline the backrest a lot to get my upper body in the correct position, but my legs aren't in as comfortable position as they were in my coupé with the ...

Re: Seat belts OTS

Hi Mats Beautiful car  https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8291&start=20 I had already thought about this problem of course. As for the height, I agree with you, it's too low without question. As for the central position, they are at the same level as those in the Jaguar document. ...

Re: Seat belts OTS

Hi all, Update. I've found the third point for my seat belts. I was looking for it at the top as indicated on the jaguar documents, but in fact it was lower and much more logically below the soft top when folded. I just needed to remove the plastic screw and make the holes in the lining. https://i.p...

Re: Jet centring method

Without spring, the piston fall down slowly and progressively, that's correct!
From the factory, each piston are paired with his " bell"
Don't sand the piston...
As the piston are close to the bell, even if you have a spring the sound can't be very hard but metallique anyway

Re: Jet centring method

Sorry, I don't agree. When the carburettor is removed from the car , the piston makes a metallic sound when it hits the "bridge" which is normal for 2 metal parts hitting each other. . It all depends on what you mean by thud and metallic sound. The sound is not that of a hammer on a good anvil, whic...

Re: Jet centring method

Hi Phil,

You say that without the diaphragm/jet you don't get any metallic noise when the piston falls ? That's surprising.
Is the piston stroke free, without obstacles?
Do you put the piston upright as it is into the engine?

Re: Could this be the cause?

Hi,
Don't you have simply the "hot key" syndrome ?

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6885&hilit=Ignition+relay

I had this and put a relay as explain. Work fine now.

Hi Glenn,
On my E Type it's a piece of flat belt with 2 or max 3 pleats
You make holes to engage the "hooks"

The same as this one but thicker

Hope it's help you

Re: sound proof on transmission tunnel

Hi Steve,
Normally, there are 2 snaps on the floor that receive the opposites attached to the left trim.
It's not glued, of course.
For this special point, I recommend you look at a well-restored E-Type.
