My US Spec LHD has power steering, and I have just replaced the pump to rack pipe, due to the old one failing.
Does anyone know of the correct procedure for bleeding the PAS system.
Thank you

Re: Checking & changing the manual gearbox oil
So, I was outside doing an oil change on one of other cars, and dirty enough to climb under the E-Type. I do appear to have an inspection hole in the transmission tunnel, but also the filler plug looks low enough to get at from under the car relatively easily. I think the Redline MT90 seems to be th...

Re: Checking & changing the manual gearbox oil
Hi Geoff,
Yes just found the LH blanking plate, removed to be greeted by a casting on the gearbox !
Looks, I'll crawl under it...but looks like a pain in a domestic garage, and 10 minutes if you have a hydraulic ramp and proper pump !
Thank you
Russell

Checking & changing the manual gearbox oil
Quick question if I may....before I pull up my glued down carpets/sound deadening.....which side do I find the inspection plate to reveal the gearbox filler. My car is a US Spec, LHD Series 2 2+2 Also, as I have no idea of when it was last checked or changed, if it looks a bit grim I may as well cha...

I had this done to my car earlier in the year....I was going to do it myself but wimped out ! I used the services of an experience XK engine builder, who luckily happens to be local to me. I believe the guide does sit a little proud of the head, and also that he drilled straight into the head. My ki...

Stromberg Carburettor Mod
For those of us stuck with the dual Strombergs on US spec series 2 cars, I have just done the very simple mod devised I believe by Peter Crespin. It took about 5 minutes, can be reversed in the same time...involves no new parts or removing anything from the car, but I can report in my case a signifi...

Thank you....no I didn't know about this adjustment, I'll go and look. I had seen the link re the refurbishment, my wheel isn't as bad as that. My plan was to refurb the old one anyway (I'm a double bass player), my repairer is used to working in wood with strange shapes ... so he's happy with doing...

Steering wheels
So I'm celebrating an MOT pass on Friday, and already stuck 200 miles on the old girl over the weekend. One thing that has become apparent (especially after seeing the MOT tester roll out of the car), is that a smaller steering wheel might be in order, mainly for comfort. I have the original 16" ver...

As an update. Belt is on, correct but Vety tight to fit. I managed to get most of it on, then a quick spin of the starter to get it on fully. But twisted !...a few more turns and it sorted itself out ! All appears to be ok, tensioner working, not too tight, just a hard/frustrating job. I'm going to ...

Thank you, sorted. It was the main 12v feed from the horn relay to the fan relay. I've re-done it directly to 12v via an inline fuse. I've also cleaned up the grubby looking earth point you've located for me. My S2 has air con, so there is an extra relay as the fans should come on when the A/C is sw...

Series 2 Fan Belt
I had a frustrating couple of hours trying to fit a new fan belt on my S2 today. It's a LHD with PAS, and I'm struggling with the Crank pulley to Water-pump. I still have the tensioner fitted, and all appears to be working. The old belt was very loose, and began to slip under load. I got the replace...

Earthing points for cooling fans
Evening Gents, Can anyone tell me where the earthing points are for the cooling fans. (1970 2+2) Are there 2 separate ones or just the one. I'm having issues with the fans not switching in......they popped on briefly the other day !.....I've checked wiring up to the relay, getting 12v to the fans fr...

Cable ties !
I know, not a very interesting topic, but the black cable ties I find all over my car (S2).....I would like to replace a few, and also not live in fear of breaking the existing ones. Do they have a brand/trade name, anyone know of a supplier ? I don't really want to start using modern plastic ones. ...

So.....2 questions which have arisen. My new Hi-Torque starter, do I still need to use the spacer plate as found between the old starter and the bell housing ? The new starter being smaller (and very easy to handle into position) now is too far away from the cable. How have people dealt with this. I...

I'm just in the middle of doing this job on my LHD 2+2. My starter is from David Manners, and labelled and is from here; http://www.wosperformance.co.uk/products/starter-motors/fitting-instructions/ The old one was a bit of a pain to remove, wouldn't fancy doing it again in a hurry, but not impossib...

Thanks.....yes the tensioner appears to be working ok, my first thought when I noticed the loose belt was that it had seized. I also have a lhd S2 car, but with power steering. I would also like to know the correct size for the fan belt (water pump/crank/tensioner as the one fitted to the car has too much slack in it. Anyone removed A/C from a LHD car
I have a LHD car with non-functioning air con, I've removed the belt from the compressor as it had a noisy pulley. I believe all of these were aftermarket/dealer fitment and I have no intention in recommissioning it, I love the AC in my modern Jaguar, but I am happy without it in my classic. Has any...
