Re: Preferred supplier of interior trimming kits?

Hi Just finished mine using a trim kit from GB classic trim. We found the trim fitted well and any problems we had Graham from GB trim couldn’t be more helpful. https://i.postimg.cc/rpxLkqdc/5-B34-C332-E596-414-B-B057-DE4-C728-F2-ED9.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fR6hpVRB/A9-CA3-B0-C-2-A3-B-47-DA-ADFD-DF...

Re: High Peak Run 2019

Hi Simon
If possible I’d like to make one for the trip. My engine has just had a full rebuild so a good run will do it some good. We have met once before at the windmill. I drive the dark green series 1 1/2 fhc

Adhesive for Bonnet skin

Hi Could anybody recommend a good adhesive for re attaching the bonnet skin back to the frame. The previous bonnet rubber was very hard and this is the cause of the skin coming away from the frame. I have fitted a softer seal so hopefully it won’t do it again. Thanks Phil https://i.postimg.cc/8cc9g0...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Just got back from a good spirited run and no knocks  I can believe I didn’t find this earlier I’ve spend hours under the car checking everything. One good thing that has come out of this for me is that it has given me a good knowledge of the irs. Thanks to everybody who replied as this kept ...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks for the all the replies again I didn’t do the rebuild but I am guilty of not checking it all properly. It was suggested that I check all the bolts by a forum member a while ago which I did but I must have missed these two. Most of the other fixings have got small paint marks on them but not t...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks for all your replies I have now removed the radius arm from the front mount and everything looks fine. I have made sure everything is tight. I also checked the bolt holding the small end of the radius arm and this was loose in fact very loose on both sides of the car I managed to get another ...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks Steve

I’ll take it fully off and have a good look. I’ve never done this as all the rear end had been rebuilt when I bought it and everything still looks like new. Nice day for it the suns shinning and no work just need a coffee now.

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Just removed the radius arm bolt to have a look and they are both set screws ? I’ve had a look on a parts supplier to try and see what they should be but the radius arms are on but not the bolts. Could this be my problem as a bolt should fit through the bush better than a set screw. I have checked f...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks John I’m not sure how long it is since the diff was rebuilt I bought the car about 2 years ago, the irs has defiantly been rebuilt with new discs springs and shocks but I can’t guarantee the diff was rebuilt. It’s probably time to spend some money on the car as it’s given me two years of pure...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks Barry I’ve just got the car jacked up (again!) I keep promising myself I’ll leave it alone and take it to the experts but can’t resist one more look. As I’m no mechanic how do I check the play in the diff with the wheels of the ground I can move the wheels about 5/10 mm before it turns the pr...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks for the reply Martin
I replaced all the fluids on the car about 12 months ago including the diff with Triple QX 80w-90 LS which I was informed was the correct oil the problem has still persisted.

Thanks again

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks Steve I’m going to see Ken Verity on Monday he’s local to me and I buy my parts from him so I know him reasonably well. The only problem is that I know he’s always busy, I’ll see if I can book it in towards the end of the year so I don’t miss too much valuable driving time he can have the car...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

To be honest I’ve been looking at this for few months trying everything that has been sugested with no joy, I was hoping somebody was going to say they had the same problem and it was the diff before I book it in. I was just trying to convince myself that it needed to go to a specialist before I tak...

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

I’ve just had a good look and checked everything, I know I’ve asked this question before and you were all good enough to give advice. I’m sure it must be the diff so I’m going to book it in to be looked at by a specialist. I’ve lived with it too long now.
Thanks again

Re: Knock on rear end (sounds painfull)

Thanks for the reply’s I’ll have a good look. It has passed 2 mots since the noice started the last one being last month, the examiner defiantly had a good look at the car. The one thing I can’t understand is why it only does it after 1/2 driving not before if something was loose I thought it might ...
