Webers on a 3.8 E-Type

Greetings: The debate goes on and on about Webers, I know. However, getting past that my query is this: The intake manifold for the Webers has the thermostat apurture of a 4.2. The outlet for the thermostat bypass is therefore smaller in diameter than that of a 3.8, which is what I have. The port on...

Re: Longest owned ... just a bit fun

My Dad bought 890650 for my Mom in 1964. The local dealer was Clifford T. Nutt in Monrovia, California. I was 6 years old then. I had many rides to school in that car. My friends would say "Cool Jagwire, Martin!" Jagwire? Really? Only Americans say Jaguar like that I guess. My Dad always maintained ...

Re: Hoses to screen washer jets

Greetings: The way I did it was I disconnected the wiper linkage and laid it down carefully in the bulkhead. You will see there is a small nut and stud (I think, or its a bolt) you can undo to make this happen. This clears the way to install the hoses. Again, take care so the linkage goes back toget...

Re: Can I replace the oil pump without pulling the engine?

Currently, I run a 3.8, but I've previously had a Series 1 4.2 that I had gone through completely. If I had your symptoms I would pull the center main bearing cap and check the condition of that first. That is, if you are going to go to the bother of dropping the sump. I hope its a simple fix.

Andrew:
I know you have it sorted. Well done you! However, I'm curious seeing that you have a 3.8 did you remain + ground? I also have a 3.8. I've installed a 1-2-3, + ground version. I like it very much, though I too miswired it initially. California gremlins?

Hello Jeremy: Polished slotted round head screws with coarse threads through those oval holes with appropriate nuts and flat washers would have been there from the U.S. car dealership upon delivery to the first owner. I believe the dimensions for license plates in the U.S. had been standardized by t...

Greetings. Regular reader, infrequent poster. I've had both at the same time. A 1966 4.2 OTS and a 1964 3.8 FHC in about equal driver condition and used them regularly. I could not keep both however. I selected the 3.8 FHC to retain and have never had a regret over the choice. 3.8 felt better to me ...

Proper Carb Needles

Greetings All: I did check archives. I am trying to determine what the proper needles should be. The car is a very late 3.8 bored .040 over, 9-1 pistons, stock cams, head ported and rebuilt with oversize intake valves and running only trumpets on the otherwise stock SU's, no air filter, for now anyw...
