Now gone off to Speedy Cables. I assume I can put a loop across the two white cables in the remaining part of the connector block and keep driving in the meantime?
Thanks all.

Re: Tacho stopped working
As an update, borrowed another tacho this afternoon, plugged it in and it works fine, so at least I know what needs doing!

Re: Tacho stopped working
Hi Tim. The 3 way connector (2 whites and green) can only go one way, and the actual connections haven’t been touched, only the main block was disconnected then reconnected as far as I know. Thanks anyway though.

Re: Tacho stopped working
Thanks for the tip Darryl. Sadly I have just put it back together with a new earth on the case screws and still nothing! Frustrating but not unusual!

That’s about right. I made a cradle on casters to move mine about in the garage.

Tacho stopped working
Evening all. My S2 came back from the trimmers (dash came out) with a few electrical gremlins which were easily fixed, but the tacho has stopped working. The car has elec ignition but always has had and nothing has changed there. Car starts and runs fine so no ignition issue that I can see, and test...

Re: S2 Clutch Issue after full rebuild
Thanks guys. Steve, yes an external spring on the slave. I have lengthened the pushrod to ensure it can still bottoming out in the cylinder with the shallower thrust bearing fitted and adjusted to the 1/16 free play, but I’ll double check just in case it wasn’t fully in. I’ll also try the bleed tric...

Re: S2 Clutch Issue after full rebuild
Hi Geoff, cheers for the tips. It’s both actually, changing down and stationary. It’s really odd. So generally I’m approaching the junction, crawling in second and trying to find first. No joy, so at rest I’m into neutral and then trying again, no luck. Re the bleeding there were two of us. I held t...

S2 Clutch Issue after full rebuild
Hi all, need some help with a clutch issue please. 2 years after starting a full rebuild I have just done my first shakedown miles, 7.5 to be exact. 3 identical trips of 2.5 miles each, with the same issue occurring at exactly the same point (about 2 miles). When I get to this point I can’t select f...
Re: Oil leak
I had the same issue in exactly the same place prior to my rebuild and a dowty washer fixed it for me.

Re: 4.2 engine running hot
I would start with the gauge/sender test and if ok check coolant circulation assuming the rad/fans are good.
Good luck, been there myself recently!

Re: Winder mechanism
Thanks Steve, the large spring in the cup obviously does the same job as the missing one in yours. Think I’ll try the SNGB replacement and pull the other one apart anyway.

Re: Winder mechanism
Hi Steve, thanks. I guess they must come out but they are sprung (you can just about see the tang) so haven’t messed about with them at this point. It might be a fight to get them back in. But I think the only place I could washer is behind those internals as I need to push the whole set up forward ...

Re: Winder mechanism
Hi Steve I have the same issue on one my windows that has an aftermarket mechanism installed by a PO. The one with the original spring works perfectly. It seems like there is too much tension in the aftermarket spring which causes the recoil. It’s on my imminent list so I’ll let you know if I find a...
