alternator question
Hi, I have a 1969 FHC left hand drive car with a/c I have an aftermarket alternator Cargo 110497. I can't seem to find out much about it on the internet but it does seem to be an upgrade used in Austin Healey sprites. It seems to work fine. I'm trying to make sense of the wiring to the 3 relays behi...

Re: series 2 ignition won't switch off
thanks both
where about is the ignition relay on a US left hand drive 1969 car?
I was wondering if it could be anything to do with the alternator relay?

series 2 ignition won't switch off
Hi I'd be grateful for any advice 1969 series 2 I start the car and then switch off at the ignition switch but the engine keeps running. Not like if the timing was out but just running normally until I disconnect the coil. I have just replaced my alternator after it was fixed and was testing electri...

When I came to test it this mor...
Re: Oil leak
Would you just use loctite as a thread sealer?
I like the idea of a simpler fix…don’t really fancy taking the head off

Re: Oil leak
It’s definitely coming from those studs at the front
The cam cover is sealing nicely with no leaks coming down from there

Oil leak
Hi
I have a 1969 FHC with an oil leak that is coming from the front cylinder head to block studs (the downwards facing ones) on the nearside
I’d be grateful for any advice on fixing this.
Is it a cylinder head off job or is there a simpler fix
Many thanks
Tom

radiator fans and ac not working
Hi thanks for any help. 1969 Series 2 US spec I'm trying to work out why my radiator fans won't come on and I think it may be linked to my air con not working. I tried bridging the Otter switch connections to get the fans to switch on but nothing happened. If I have a dodgy fan relay no 2 (air con c...

I'm jacking using a wooden block on the IRS cage between the twin exhaust pipes,
where is the best place to locate the axel stands without damaging anything?

Re: brake bleeding advice
thanks
I thought that might be the way to do it.
Do the front shocks generally come off easily?
It looks like one long bolt though the lower mount of both shocks. I can't see the upper attachment to the cage.
Do I need a jack under the wishbone?

brake bleeding advice
Hi
I'm planning to replace the brake fluid in my 1969 S2 FHC.
I can see that access to the bleed nipples on the rear callipers is not great.
Can anyone share tips on how to do this without too much pain and swearing!
many thanks

Distributor problem
Car broke down this morning No spark I think I've tracked it down to the distributor. Its a CSI electronic ignition unit and coolant has been leaking onto it from a water pipe above it. I've cleaned it up a bit and dried off the cap and leads and the car will start and run but only intermittently. W...

Hi
I have a 1969 series 2 FHC that has a Kienzle clock fitted

Thanks

Re: steering rack removal
Hello again sorry for the long delay in this thread I've been sitting on this for a while  MOT is due again and I've had a look at the problem today the play is definitely in the rack itself and I guess it must be the tube bush that has failed. Is it possible to replace these bushes with the r...

Re: steering rack removal
thanks there is play in the rack itself which is most obvious on the passenger side. I'm guessing that it could be the bush in the rack on that side that is worn. What is the best way to get the rack out. Does the rad need to be removed or can you slide it out once the steering column is pulled up? ...
