Re: Suspension paints
I used Epoxy mastic 121 in silver. Brushed on. Very good recommendations and it seems to be extremely durable.

Re: A small issue…
I had similar problems after leaving mine for several weeks. It was extremely bad tempered, firing on 5 cylinders, spluttering. I changed the plugs, to no effect. I called Angus, who advised me to just take it out for a drive and it will probably clear itself. Which it did. I took it gently at first...

I will look out for you Simon. I take it your car can be identified as the one towing a Concorde?

Re: London Concours 5th June
I'm taking mine along Geoff. First time. The special E type display persuaded me to do this one instead of Hampton Court this year. Just hoping the winter weather will be over by next week. I had to apply with a photo (the car, not me) and details. I find the mid week timing a bit odd. Anyone else g...

Re: Complete interior
What I would say is that some new leathers on restored interiors (matt, grainy, no creases) look like a brand new Audi. Probably because they are using the same leather supply. Original leather with wear, creases and scuffs (but cleaned up) would look far better IMO. When GB Classic Trim retrimmed m...

Re: Shortening IRS components
When I was doing my engineering training I witnessed a young apprentice at work on a milling machine when the cutter fractured and smashed like a bullet into his safety glasses. Glasses destroyed, eyes protected. Imagine losing an eye at 17 years old. I will never use any kind of metalworking machin...

Hey Rory, get some protection on that drop-dead gorgeous paintwork won't you? Cellaire foam stuck down with 3M 3030 (green) tape. Heaven knows how many chips and scratches that saved for me.

Re: Hexagon of Highgate
I went to look at this car early in 2015 and they had it for sale then, same mileage, same price. I imagine others have had the same reaction I did: it seems so precious that whatever you did to it, (e.g. touch it, drive it, replace anything at all) you would immediately reduce its value....and what...

Re: Headlamp Sugar Scoop captive nuts on wrong side ?!
Jeremy, how did you go about excluding the water? I just went at it carefully from under the wing, pressing that black Eastwood caulk into every conceivable gap or hole that could possibly lead to the scoop space. I believe most of the water was being blasted in from behind by the wheels, and less ...

Re: Headlamp Sugar Scoop captive nuts on wrong side ?!
Rory, I seem to remember reading that it's done this way to position the scoop at a gradient, like a gutter, and in the eventuality of any water finding its way into the headlamp space it can drain away rearwards. Maybe I invented that. But it seems plausible that early cars might have accumulated l...

Re: Header tank: Aluminium, brass or stainless steel?
:yeahthat: :yeahthat: Just don't buy the Terry's Jag stainless tank that looks like the original. I did, assuming it would last forever. After 2 years I started seeing a sticky little puddle on the garage floor. Found TJ tank had started leaking from a pinhole in one of the welded/brazed outlet join...
