1948 Jaguar restoration
With my e-type tucked away for the winter I've begun work on restoring my 1948 MK4. It has an ignition timing Advance control on the steering wheel, but the cable/bracket at the bottom end of the steering column (which goes to the Distributor to Advance or Retard the ignition timing) has dropped off...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Looked at the parts diagram and decided with the shape of the connector petals (which would lock inside the case) then the sump had to come off. Drained the oil, removed the sump, and the offending kickdown connector is clear to see. I found that by usi...

Managed to take out a large grommet under the carpet in the driver's foot well, through which you can see the kickdown connector on the side of the auto transmission gearbox case, with it's electrical connector wire up to the engine bay. Kickdown solenoid connector access
I am trying to access the kickdown solenoid connector on the side of the auto transmission box on a series 3 V12. It appears that the O ring seal on it is leaking oil and dribbling down to the oil pan. It's on the driver side, but from below you can't actually see where it goes into the gearbox side...
