Re: Clutch fork position

Thanks for your reply. The flywheel was original but lightly skimmed by engine rebuilder who didn’t comment about its ‘thickness’ As I said I was concerned at the difference in thickness with the cover I took off Yes full clutch kit Would it be enough do you think? Thanks again Paul Here is a photo ...

Clutch fork position

Hi I am concerned about the position of the fork as it exits the bellhousing. There seems to be little travel distance and is it enough to depress the cover diaphragm? This is a full new clutch. I contacted the company who said it was for the 4.2 Etype (jan67) What worries me is the one removed was ...

flasher unit

hi I am converting my S1 from LHD to RHD and currently rewiring.(finding it a bit of a pain as the car seems an amalgam of 1 and 2 series!) I would appreciate any photos showing the cockpit wiring loom layout. My autosparks loom seems to have the flasher canister on the RHS...is this correct? For th...

Re: Timing chain adjustment

Hi

Yes I did. I was worried about lack of specificity. Spent loads on this and don’t want to get it wrong!

I usually find the jag lovers forum really helpful

Fitting vinyl trim around corners

Hi
Can anyone pass any tips on re fitting the vinyl around the tack strip of my S1 roadster!

I kept the old one, cutting v shapes etc but still struggling to prevent it ‘puckering’

Really frustrating !

Number plate size

Hello
I have at last received the number plate from Dvlc for my S1 roadster

Can anyone tell me the correct size for the rear plate please and who is a reliable manufacturer?

Also am I likely to be pulled for putting the front one on the bonnet? Is this desirable anyway?

Many thanks

Thanks you for your replies

Not too sure which to order as I don’t know whether I have the upper or lower pipe!

Are they differently shaped. Can’t find from an internet search!

Vacuum pipe s1

Hi Could anyone advise please. I am putting in the vacuum pipe in my 66 4.2 roadster and converting to rhd I have read that 2 vacuum pipes are required, although various ‘kits’ donot show this and would no doubt be a nightmare if required and not doing full rebuild as I am! Would I be sensible to pu...

Re: Correct height of block studs?

Many thanks. I have been scraping the bottom of the chamber and yes crud is coming out

This leads me to another question in terms of how/when to flush the block out. The machine shop did say that they cleared a lot of rubbish but there. Is clearly residue left

Correct height of block studs?

Hi I am rebuilding my 4.2 and replacing the block studs. The machine shop said they tapped out the studs when the bock was machined. However, even though the studs go in freely they are not a uniform height. The 4 with lifting brackets will be longer I suspect but is there a uniform height. I darent...
