Headlining cleaning
Afternoon everyone, I need to clean a couple of light dirt marks from my headlining. The drivers' handbook suggests methylated spirits on a white cloth as the ideal cleaning method, but before I go down this route, it there a less aggressive alternative? Would soapy water do it? I thought I'd better...

Re: Wire wheel colours
Peter You'll be somewhat relieved to note that I'm sticking with chrome for my main set , as they look lovely against the Carmen Red. I'm still also investigating the competition chrome wires for the rear, once I understand what width they are from the vendor. I now have a spare set of painted wires...

Thanks Simon
I suspect my car was quite possibly a showcase for their work, but I could of course be wrong.

Hello all, Well, my car is now safely tucked up in the garage and I'm very happy with it. As the winter nights draw in, I'm focused on building up the past history, as the file that accompanied the car is looking a little thin before 2010. Here is a potted history of the car; if any forum members re...

Re: Wire wheel colours
Dear all, Just a quick update: I may have obtained a pair of very lightly used competition wheels, finished in stainless steel, which is rather unexpected as I had resigned myself to painted steel wheels. I'm not sure at this stage whether they're 5.5 or 6 inch width, so before I proceed any further...

The exhaust system is by Abarth, Peco could not compete!: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/q-max/E-Type%202/Jaguar-E-type-series-1-2-1.jpeg http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?p=32961#p32961 I stand corrected David! Perhaps my growing loyalty to my car's Peco related past is beginning to cl...

Re: Wire wheel colours
That looks a little like the Peco dual 'Aintree' silencers fitted to my car early in its' life! The darker coloured comp wheels look perfect and I may well go down this route for the spare wheels I've got. I can always revert back to the Chrome wire wheels in the summer as I don't want to off...

Re: Wire wheel colours
Peter I quite agree. With a Carmen Red car, I will absolutely paint the wheels silver, but will seek to find a slightly more characterful shade than what they're currently painted, hence my appeal for inspiration. In truth, I am erring on a more matt finish, akin to some of the period racers, but ju...

Wire wheel colours
Dear all My car is currently fitted with chrome wires and I'm considering substituting these for a set a painted wheels, as I think they may suit the car a little better, given my car is finished in Carmen Red; personal opinion of course! Long term, I may invest in a set of painted competition spec ...

Re: From Series 3 to Series 1
While I wait in delicious anticipation for the car to arrive, I've been doing a little research into it's past history. Armed with the knowledge that the car was originally first registered to Veco Limited, which was related to the Peco Silencers company, I googled 'Peco Exhaust history' and was del...

Exhaust upgrade advice
And so it begins... The car hasn't even arrived yet and thoughts are turning to potential upgrades for my 3.8 FHC. First on the list is the exhaust and in an ideal world, I'd like to go the whole hog with a full system from Classic Fabs, but common sense tells me to hold fire until I've got to know ...

From Series 3 to Series 1
Hello everyone After a gap of 5 years, I've finally returned to the world of E Types. Back in 2010 I purchased an Azure Series 3 FHC, CRW15K, which I loved but let go all too quickly and have now, via assorted Astons and an XK120 OTS, purchased a 3.8 Coupe, chassis number 861674 and registered ACM28...
