Series 1 removal of front bumpers
Is anybody able to advise me on how to remove the front bumpers and the sequence to be followed. Mine is a 1965 model and space is very, very limited. The outside bolt also appears to be hidden.

Steve,
Many thanks for your input. I take it you replaced the operating rod with the threaded stud?

Slave cyclinder
Thanks for the response David. My car No is 7E7097 and is fitted with the adjustable slave cylinder. The operating rod has been extended to it's maximum length by turning it anti clockwise, but I still have approx 1/4" free play. Looks like I will just have to leave it. Had new thrust bearing and cl...

Slave cylinder
Dave, It looks like you are spot on again!
Confident that that unit I have is the one shown. Is there any way I can tell whether the operating rod fitted is the correct one?

Stewart

Slave cylinder
Have Series 1 EType late 1965. Does anyone know what part number is stamped on the slave cylinder. Mine appears to be 323264(?)8C - having difficulty reading it upside down. Unit was recently fitted, but adjustment rod does not allow me to reduce free play to desired setting, i.e. 1/16".

battery charge
Hi Dave, Had no problems today. Only on one occasion did the ammeter reading rise, but for the rest of the run of about 140 miles it remained in the centre or showed only a very slight charge. Think your rational regarding the battery not having been much used and the high current being drawn by the...

battery charge
Dave, Once again many thanks and for the record it has an alternator. Am taking it out today and will see how it performs. Do have a Kenlowe fan installed and following a run it does tend to run on for quite some time. On the outing referred to I stopped at a pub for lunch and the fan must have run ...

battery charge
Chris, Many thanks for your detailed response. I was away for about five weeks prior to taking the car out and for a month prior to that it had had little use. Possible therefore that battery was low. However the run I took it out on was about thirty miles and I assume this should have been enough t...

David,
Thanks for speedy response and note your comments. However previously amp metre performed OK with needle always hovering just in the Charge sector. Why should this change?

Battery charge
Last week when taking my Series 1 EType out out noted that the higher the revs the more charge was being put into the battery - according to the amp meter. On occasions the needle was almost 3/4 the way up. However on using a test metre at the battery the maximum input even at high revs was about 14...

Ideally you need to use a 5/8" six point socket, a standard 8 point socket will not fit. Alternatively use a good spanner but be careful not to damage the screw faces. David, Thanks for this. Confirm pse that this is for a EType Series 1. Have been in touch with Bate Engineering and they recommend ...

Lumenition Ignition
Have Series 1 EType and fitted a Lumenition Ignition system some 15 years ago. System was recently replaced by a garage when my car was in for some repairs. They claimed the system I had installed had packed up. Now find that car cuts out and have to waggle wires at the connector box in order to res...
