Re: Webers or Fuel Injection

At most of the time, my 6,0L HE motor at small part throttle and medium part throttel is running with a lambda of roundabout 1,05 to 1.10. When crusing with this mixture, an injectet car can't take much less gas. 5% les would be a great number. My car is driving when crusing with roundabout 18 - 20 ...

"Also complicating things, I’m challenging myself to make it a “bolt-on” upgrade that will work on any efi V12. The secret is liquid (not gas) injection, at least 10% more power that with petrol, 50% reduction in fuel costs and Euro 5 or better emissions. Can’t do that with carbs. So imo, if you ar...

Hello Colin, "I find your comments very enlightening as I was also considering injection, however straight pipes to the airbox and possibly SU's or a setup on a rolling road for the Strombergs looks like a better option all being considered." If you mount two pipes with a bigger diamter to the airfi...

I have mounted the Getrag 265 with 5 gears. The fifth is 1: 0,81, therefore an "overdrive".

Re: Webers or Fuel Injection

I am driving a Series III since 20 years. If you want to improve the power output an the reliability, make these changes: 1. Don't do EFI. It is a long way, until it will work good. Marek has done it. His motor is running very good But Marek is intelligent, has a lot of knowledge and experience. 99%...

Re: 6.0 V12 and 4 speed auto box transplant

Hello Curtis, keep in mind, that the original auto box from an 1993 V12 limousine is a VERY heavy (117 kg) and big box. I think you have to change the shape of the gearbox tunnel of the car. I have mounted such a motor with 4 stromberg carbs and a Getrag 5-speed into my EV12 OTC. Gas consumption rou...

Re: Tuning Problems V12

Why don't you mount a vented cooling system for your amp ? You need a rubber hose form the air filter onto the amp and a second hose leading from the amp to the front of the car. If the motor is running, cold (!) air would be sucked through the amp. I can't estimate, how big the cooling effect woiul...

Re: Tuning Problems V12

I had such a problem for three years. If the hydrocarbons are 2000 ppm and the co is 9,5% maybe some ignitions ar failing and the motor is blowing out not ignited mixture from some strokes. Such a problem can be ignition related or carb-related. Mine was ignition related. The timimg was much too ear...

"Ultimately I will be looking to to go to full EFI with coil packs etc but for now it may be a bottom end rebuild with the original carbs and ignition." Re: V12 starting issues

Does the motor have a good idle when it is hot ? If the idle is good, there es no leak for air at the hoses.
If the motor pulls air through a hole, the idle is bad.

The leaks must be closed for a long time, when using the car.

Re: Electronic Ignition - carb ported vacuum versus manifold vacuum?

Roberts remarks about this are exatly 100% correct. If you use manifold vacuum, you have max vacuum at idle and therefore maximum advance at idle. If you have a 16 degreee capsule, you would have 10 plus 16 = 26 degree at idle. You would have a stumblingidle and therefore a very bad smell out of the...

Easy solution: take a spare spanner (in german language is called "fork key" or "open mouth" key) and saw it short and grind the mouth slim. Drill a small hole at the end and make a thin 1 m long yarn at it. 5 minutes to work, if you have a saw and a grinder. With this special stromberg-tool I was a...

Re: Series 3 spark plugs colours

"Vacuum advance (vacuum direct from intake manifold)" This is WRONG. The vacuum has to be taken from a port at the carb, "called tappered edge". Few carbs have this port. For my EV12 I had to drill a port to one carb. The port has to end roundabout 1 - 3 mm in FRONT of the butterfly. If you presse t...
