Re: Body shop recommendations Surrey/Hants/Berks

Chertsey...I'm biased as I work there part time but their panel beating and bodywork skills are superb.

S2 2+2 Door Lock Queries

Hi, Oct 68 2+2 converted from LHD to RHD. LH door has just the push button instead of a lock which is ok as can unlock from inside. The door striker guide peg does not fit the holes in the LH door. Any idea what the story is here? Early replacement S1 door? Thx Eddie Cross https://i.postimg.cc/3N7Gv...

S2 2+2 Front Seat floor fixings

Hi, Late 68 2+2 New to 2+2 front seat fixing locations. Front buttons fix to the cross member? Do the rear fixings have some sort of bracket to raise them to the level of the cross member or not? I used some tubing to raise the rear on the 1st image but not happy with it and not sure of the original...

Re: Series 2 RHD Aftermarket Steering Rack Issue

Many thanks Steve.
Kiley was really helpful. I am going to forward some images to him to help ID it to supply spares. Worst case he has a new RHD drive rack.

Series 2 RHD Aftermarket Steering Rack Issue

Hi, Working on a customers S2 with a manual rack. It was converted from LHD. Checking the steering rack and found that on the passenger side the Tie rod end socket and spring were missing, along with the lock tab. I checked the drivers side and they were present but the socket was small and nylon an...

Re: WARNING - deception on ebay

Hi Stefan, As a buyer, when I have had issues with a purchase i have always managed to have a chat with one of the E-Bay staff and they have resolved it. As long as you are a trusted seller I can't think of any reason why they would not listen to your side of the story and have the facilities to che...

Re: Clutch slave cylinder- delay in retracting

Quick update. Yes thanks Marek. All the issues were around the slave cylinder. Disconnected link and pushed piston back and then bled the brakes. Plenty of air came out but 1st bleed was not successful. Thought I would swap the rubber seals for the spare ones even though the aftermarket (cheap) slav...

Re: Clutch slave cylinder- delay in retracting

Many thanks Marek. I'll try that 1st. One of situations where it gets worse before it gets better. I tried poking a welding rod through the old hose and there was definately a blockage and the fluid is now flowing through the system much quicker. I also found spare master and slave rebuild kits in m...

Re: Clutch slave cylinder- delay in retracting

I have fitted the new hose and bled the system but cannot get the clutch pedal to hold pressure without pumping it. Not sure where the air is getting in as the hose connections are not leaking at either end and no sign of fluid around the slave rubber seal. Was fine with holding pressure before I sw...

Re: bang and black smoke

Just guessing but I would check for an intermittent stuck exhaust valve. I would pull off both rocker covers and spin the engine with the coil disconnected (pull the plugs to make it easier on the starter) Get someone to spin the engine while you check for consistant oil feed to each valve and all v...

Clutch slave cylinder- delay in retracting

Hi there , 67 FHC (mid year) I have some clutch slip but wanted to check the clutch release mechanism is working correctly first. I had my son press the clutch pedal while I was under the car. No problem with it fully extending but when he takes his foot off the pedal it is taking a few seconds to r...

Re: How to secure sill to sill closing panel?

Hi Philippe, Would you mind letting us know how this progresses? I need to add new sills to my 67 at some point. Choices of panels- Martin Robey, Hudsons, MM? My interest/Q's... If non MM sills, what were they and how is the fit? How is the sill fit to the bulkhead closing panel- make? Any distortio...

Apologies if not relevant. Hinge panel was flexing under the pressure from the bonnet springs so I added a reinforcing bracket on both sides in 18 gauge.

Just back from a run. Seems to have cured it thx all.
No chance to do emergency stops but can't feel any lag or dragging when I take my foot off the brake for normal driving.

Re: Brakes slow in releasing

Stripped out air valve. Reaction valve piston was a bit stiff. Moved back and forth by pressing the brake pedal to move it out and pushing in with a rod. Plate in front when I pressed brake pedal to stop it flying out. Added as much rubber grease as possible without completely removing the piston. I...
