Re: Casting block

Got any more info on the cost of laser welding and impregnating the block?

Re: New Developments In Rear Crank Sealing

I would be curious to find out where these flexible rear crank seals can be obtained?
The plan is to test it on a non jaguar engine, as not having to cut a seal seems very promising.

Re: series 1 FHC RHD project value

Easy way to find out. Pop it on eBay starting at say £10k. Put a £30 k reserve and see what you get.... A car...any car...is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it on the day. The thing is if I did that I would be obliged to sell in case it meets the reserve of £30k you suggest, the poin...

Re: series 1 FHC RHD project value

Thanks for the responses. Let me firstly make clear to ralphr1780 that this is not a cheap way to advertise the car. I do not know how you got the impression, I might have quite a close relationship with the classic car industry, but the only thing i normally do is buy cars as a hobby, this far we a...

series 1 FHC RHD project value

Due to a shortage of time and storage capacity we consider selling our 1963 s1 FHC RHD project. Can anyone give me a clue about the value of such a car in its current state? It has been off the road since about 1977 and in current ownership for over 35 years. all in parts atm. It has a rebuild 3.8L ...

Re: V12 bonnet

Thanks for the response, that's far more than i expected. i had a €500 offer for the lot, but declined it. however it looks like parts and cars are more expensive in the UK than over here.

Re: Wheel choice

I have the original (new) Curly hub spoke wheels with a NOS set of dunlop rs5 tyres, as it came from the factory i believe. Don't think the Dunlopr RS5's are still available? They are available, not all are road legal. RS5's are no longer available as Dunlop have moved the tooling to India and they...

Re: series 1 FHC

i'm not yet sure about the weber upgrade, but i'm really keen on the looks of them.
I do have quite a bit of experience wtih setting up webers so that shouldn't be a problem, although i have to agree that setting up the SU's is a lot easier and less time consuming.

Re: series 1 FHC

I don't have any extreme upgrades in mind, but more like swapping the SU units for webers and some improved braking, and possibly fit a more modern 5 speed gearbox, but no structural changes. with our other cars originality is very much important, but as there are quite a lot of e-type's i don't min...

Re: series 1 FHC

thank you for your sympathy, much appreciated  . definitely not our car the one you saw. as we have a very early DB4 which looks much better than the later DB5 imho. also i'm located in the NL instead of UK. I have already ordered the heritage certificate, but that won't give me any details abo...

Re: series 1 FHC

thanks for the welcome. the only info i get from xkedata is that it's a RHD 3.8 FHC. I found the old english green logbook that goes back to 1973, when it replaced the old one i pressume. in the logbook the colour was stated as yellow, but changed to red on 14 feb 1974. the registration mark was 299...

series 1 FHC

Hi, my father owns a 1963 3.8 FHC RHD e-type. we have it for at least 35 years now, and never driven it, as it's all in boxes, and will be for the forthcoming years  originally delivered in england, but imported to NL around 1977 . original exterior colour yellow i believe but changed to red...
