Re: Inlet side “tappet noise”

Had the same problem for 7 yrs on #1 or #2 intakes. Could not find it. Was not a shim issue as they were spot on. No sign of tappet guide lift. No witness marks, nothing. So I gave up and placed a tappet guide retainer on 1 and 2 intake as I have on all the exhaust guide. Problem gone. A quiet head ...

Re: Covered Headlight Conversion S1.25

Hello Klaus, I used black paint because some of the new flange is visible through the perspex and black just blends right in with the rubber seal. It blends so well i had to run to the garage and check with a flash light to see if my recollections were correct. You will enjoy the conversion when its...

Re: Beware..High Torque Starter

Thanks so much for those photos. i too had installed my hi torque starter with the spigot plate in , as there was no instructions to remove it . I called Moss and their tech dept. did not know what to do either. I had taken measurements prior to installation and after considerable head scratching an...

Re: Series 1 bonnet fitting

Here you go http://classicjaguar.com/parts-2/regular-and-restoration-parts/ I have used them on my 67 OTS, good quality and helped solved my miss alignment issues. As with most things E-Type it was an iterative process to get the spacing just right. I thought removing the same size spacer would resu...

I can vouch for Browns Lane. Tom was very helpful with parts and advice during my rebuild. There will still be Canada Post to British Columbia to pay though.

Toasty coil wire

Spotted this the other day. It wasn't loose. Obviously over heated. Cause? Possibly high alternator output? Regulator issues ? It is a Flamethrower coil and ignition with a new direct wire lead from ignition switch which is on a relay and fused at 5 amps ( not the wire just the switch ) I understand...

Re: Covered Headlight Conversion S1.25

One down , one to go. This has not been a breeze. The parts from Monocoque metal works are fine. However the chrome surround, PTE lens , rubber lens seal and bonnet require MUCH fettling to agree with each other . Including grinding the PTE lens to fit the chrome surround. All before the heart stoppi...

Re: Covered Headlight Conversion S1.25

Looks great Ed, nice work. Thanks for the additional tips. I note that series one headlight dishes do not seem to available at this time so series two 's will have to be modified. My headlight bulkheads are in ( great panels but fettling required due to bonnet variations ) sugar scoops pre fitted an...

Re: Quickjack

I have had one for four years now and used it numerous times. It has been great but is not perfect. It is barely long enough to reach the jacking points for the E-type, but a modification to the rubber support blocks and has worked fine with careful placement. Access is best from front and rear only...

Re: Covered Headlight Conversion S1.25

Great photos , once again Ed. I am still fettling with my headlight bulkheads, i see you have done so too. Some of my bonded bonnet supports have come loose as well. I have also found that series one headlight shells are unavailable and have had to cut and modify series 2's. despite being labeled as...

Re: Covered Headlight Conversion S1.25

Hi Ed , Thanks again for posting. Are you using spacers on the sugar scoop bolts or double nuting them ( or both ) Here is where I am to date. Still waiting on parts, they appear to be " covid delayed" Cheers, Keith https://i.postimg.cc/Sszvb6Zx/C1-FA74-F3-2-C25-4132-BE9-E-1754774-A64-D9.jpg https:/...
