Thank you for your responses.
I've decided to leave things as they are and enjoy the car this summer then in the autumn change the vacuum module for an vacuum advance type and go from there. I'm hoping the vacuum advance may improve fuel consumption on part throttle when on the open road.

V12 Opus Distributor Vacuum Module Failure
<t>I've read most of the posts regarding manifold v ported vacuum take off and the pros and cons of each method. I think i've overloaded on all the information and ended up confusing myself and so I would appreciate some clear advice if that is possible. <br/> My engine has 4 SU HIF44 carburettors w...

Re: Floating / diving at speed
It could be all the things mentioned so far but I notice you are running tyre pressures at 32 p.s.i all round whereas the Jaguar recommended pressures are 24 p.s.i front and 28 p.s.i rear which is good enough for normal speed upto 120 m.p.h. I'm not saying this will cure your problem but it might he...

Accident Repair Recommendation
Not exactly E Type business but I thought this forum could help. Some kind sole has modified my son's Jaguar XF by putting a stripe down the side of it by probably using a broad brush vehicle. Needless to say no note left giving details etc. so it is left to my son to have the "stripe"rectified. Cou...

Re: Engine out
Peter I bought the Bray Heater back in the late 80's; I can't remember the details but it was through someone in the JDC and Vicarage Cars either made them or had them made. They were made to order so I would imagine there are very few around not being used. The heater just keeps the coolant mildly ...

Re: Engine out
It's not too difficult to remove as one unit. Lift the engine so it just clears the steering rack, remove the gearstick and angle the whole unit to come out under the bulkhead. I attach some photographs to illustrate the process. Hope it goes well. Bob https://i.postimg.cc/Y0Sr3xts/DSCN1760.jpg http...

David Being almost IT illiterate I haven't the faintest idea of what you have had to do or what you have to do to maintain the forum but I greatly appreciate you doing so. As a member of a few motor forums I have to say this forum is head and shoulders above the rest. Keep up the good work and thank...

Re: 73 USA S3 2+2 Won't Start
Jim Assuming the fuel supply is not an issue although I don't quite understand why you have put a filter in line before the pump when there is one already fitted in the spare wheel well and although you say you have plenty of fuel in the supply, can you hear the non-return valve "fizzing" before try...

Re: stromberg alternative anyone fitted 4 x SU HIF 44?
I converted mine 10 years ago. Not a difficult job but if your car is a manual then you will need the clutch master cylinder adaptor. This is a bit of a pain to fit as you have to remove the master cylinder which means disconnecting and connecting the pedal in the footwell. For me it is an understat...

Re: Glass scratch removal
Frost Restoration Equipment http://www.frost.co.uk/search/?p=3&q=gl ... ch+remover have a kit for £17.95. I've used it with great success to polish out a scratch cause by a broken windscreen wiper. You do have to take your time and keep the screen cool and wet during the process.
Windscreen Coatings
I use Gtechiq on all our cars. Longer wearing and no smearing when the wipers are on. As others have said before with any of these products preparation and getting really clean glass is important for them to be effective and lasting. http://gtechniq.com/products/auto/perfect/exterior/paint/g1-and-g4...

How to polish your car
David, you chose well. What Russell doesn't know about detailing and paintwork isn't worth knowing. I follow his method of cleaning a car with exception of drying. I havea bottle of Envy Car Care FA. You apply this after rinsing, using a foam lance, trigger spray or or pump sprayer and leave to dwel...

Oil Filter
I had a similar problem with the old element style filter; could never get a perfect seal so 2 years ago I changed to the Rob Beere screw on type and that's cured the problem.
