Re: Front shock absorbers, series 1

Blimey - many unhappy owners! I went for the GAZ adjustables from SNG, at only £10 more expensive than the "Girlings" Set towards the soft end of the spectrum, the car handles beautifully, and just glides over speed bumps. Also, they look very similar to the originals, unlike the SPAX set that were ...

Front shock absorbers, series 1

Here's a conundrum: I want to go back to the factory supplied Girling shock absorbers at the front, which are non - adjustable. I have a lighter aluminium bonnet (which only needs 1 bonnet spring on each side to hold it up) Will the Girlings be too hard? Should I get adjustables? Torsion bars and an...

Covers for hood toggle clamps

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the hood securing toggle clamps on a series 1 OTS originally had slip on covers to stop them rattling when the hood was down.
Did I imagine this? Has anyone ever seen any?
Thanks in advance

Series 1 3.8 brake servo bellows replacement.

Has anyone ever tried replacing the bellows on a S1 brake servo without taking everything out? The servo is fine mechanicallly, it’s just that the bellows have split.

Re: Spark Plugs

You're right - since there are only pennies difference in price, I wonder why all plugs aren't made with resistors. Come to think of it, just why are there so many types??

Re: Spark Plugs

Thanks for the advice. The car has had Champion N9YC in it since I got it. I've been using a plug in SAT Nav without problems, and never heard interference on my phone (which of course I don't use while driving - couldn't hear it anyway) No radio in car. So....is a resistive plug really necessary? I...

Spark Plugs

I've just bought some Champion N9YC plugs to replace existing plugs. Have always used Champion, but the new ones look cheap, nasty and almost fake. Anyone got any preferences? I've got an MSD Ignition system and thinking of using NGK BP5ES plugs and leaving gap factory set at 35 thou. Thoughts appre...
