Man vs Bee on Netflix
Roman Atkinson might not be to everyone’s taste but watching him drive an e type with a 9600 HP reg is amusing on episode 8

2+2 dimensions
Hopefully someone is in the garage at the moment with their 2+2 and could measure how long the car is from back bumper to front of the front wheels I’m losing the garage where my etype project lives and have the option of a garage that is only 4.35m long so I’m considering removing the bonnet and ho...

Start it or tow it?
My ‘68 2+2 restoration project that has been dry stored for over 75% of its life is about to lose its currents home so I’ve got to relocate it.. hopefully to home if I can make space. I’ve had the car for 5 years now and have cranked it over by hand regularly without issue although I’ve never tried ...

Hi Gents
The V112 form from the DVLA gets you MOT exemption as you are declaring your 40 year old vehicle is one with historic status. Worked for my Lotus without a hitch.

Re: Ive only gone and bought one!
Hi Darren, Im going to try and keep it as original as possible whilst making it as nice to drive as possible. I wont change the gearbox for a 5 speed but cooling and brakes might well see some enhancements. The new bonnet that came with the car is a closed headlight version so that takes care of tha...

Headlamp scoop suppliers
In the ever increasing list of parts that Im discovering I need to start the restoration of my 68 2+2, headlamp scoops are one of them. I have a new old stock Martin Robey s1 bonnet and I see that headlamp scoops are available from several sources at varying prices. It would seem logical to me to bu...

Re: Ive only gone and bought one!

Re: Thermic paint stripping
Thanks Jerome, mine is an S1 2+2 with a brand new bonnet and I was only really concerned about how much lead the factory applied when built so maybe I'll go and have a chat with the gents at paint strip UK. Thanks for the reply and if I go down this route I will share my findings..... Hopefully all ...

Re: Thermic paint stripping
Apologies for resurrecting this old thread but having read everything on this forum about dipping vs blasting, the hot strip option offered in Preston which isn't far from me seems the least worst option maybe. My question for the masses is as this process also melts the lead loading on the car how ...

Re: Bolt specs and sizes
The full car bolt kit from monocoque metalwork looks like money well spent particularly if you have the wrong bolts in some areas. I guess the postage and import duties on 4kg of hardware from the states won't be cheap though. I'm probably going to bite the bullet and buy this kit unless there's a s...

Rear wing shape
There are a pair of rear wings for sale on ebay currently that the seller says are S1 dhc. I realise they dont work as a direct replacement for my rusty S1 2+2 wings but does anyone know if they would work as a repair panel around the wheel arch area? Thanks. Phil

Re: Ive only gone and bought one!
I'm sure Martin Robey shares will be on the rise once I've made a list of missing bits.... Bonnet hinges and balance links first I think so I can get my new bonnet safely on the car and off the ground and out of mother in laws temporary storage facility

Ive only gone and bought one!
So after 30 plus years of drooling over etypes and 10 plus years of telling my wife Im going to have one one day I am now the proud owner of a 68 S1.5 2+2 that needs a significant amount of TLC. I got the car moved to the North last week via a car moving franchise and I hired a van to move the new b...
