Hi Phil...welcom to the forum....post here any cars that you see that you may be interested in....you will get a basic assesment from forum members.....get out and look at as many E types as you can befor making a purchasing decision...ok so you dont have deep pockets...just bear in mind to purchase...

Hi Peter....I would be more scheptical that its been done correct. ....your guy has already in my opinion made excuses.... (noise due to cams and cam covers)........either check yourself its not difficult or send it back and ask what gaps were set.....does your guy know the difference in the 3.8 cam...

Hi Pete.....were the tappet guides and tappets replaced.....or was it just re shimmed.......I would question that a S3 camshaft with wider gaps causes louder tapping. .not in my experiance.....do you know what gaps inlet and exhaust were set to?.......if your capable then pull the camcovers and chec...

If yoy want to work on your own electrics yoy need a diagram.......it may look complicated but just break it down into sections...thats why i refered you to the knowledge base there are good ccoloured coded diagrams

Hi Geoff...yes im with you now.....no big deal though you just use a flat door card shape it over and its held in with clips.....you made it sound like you had to soak it to get the shape :bigrin:

Hi Chris.....mdf is far more stable than standard ply...unless you go for marine ply.......you can waterproof standard mdf by coating with varnish etc....or you could use the premium moisture resistant Medite board.....dont forget that you fit a plactic membrane between door and card.......Steve

Hi...Sounds like youve tried all the hire companies.......so cant offer any advice.......if you struggling with insurance then i doubt anyone on the forum will loan you theirs....as on a standard policy it dosnt cover hire & reward..but all the best for the big day.....Steve

I Rui......i have replaced the bearings in the type 3 diff with the replacements available from SNGB etc.....they worked ok...however i could not stop oil leaks........so opted for the later type of output shaft set up with taper bearings and a much better seal arrangement.....Steve
