Hi Marek, thanks for the quick response, my car has neither emissions nor aircon but if I remember correctly the alternator mounting bracket appears to have provision to mount something where the bracket bolts to the engine block and extends forward to mount the current(pun intended)alternator-would...

Hi all, charging light dims slightly but does not extinguish.Initial checks suggest diode failure. Has anyone sourced spares for a BUTEC A7 or replaced with a more modern alternator with built in regulator etc. I was also curious about location/direction of rotation of original[i.e.forward of engine...

The upper seat is an interference fit which requires pressing out,I have successfully removed them using a mallet and drift!Simply drift it out downwards and replace with the "sealed for life" type.[you will need to shorten the original bolts or replace with shorter bolts] An alternative is to aquir...

Thanks for the Exhaust suggestion, should have thought of that one!
I don't think it's crank related as it shows exellent oil pressure.
I'll post my findings, regards, Mike.

engine tapping noise

Just another point to consider after going out in the car [from cold] at lunchtime - the noise wasn`t audible for the first mile or so,then became gradually more pronounced the more I drove until it was the same as before.[Performance seems unaffected!]

Regards, Mike.

Hello to all,I am new to the Forum, have owned my `E` since Feb`05[1973 V12 FHC Manual]. Apart from introducing myself I was hoping someone might have a suggestion for what is causing a recent engine noise which seems to have worsened slightly over the past few weeks! It seems to be coming from the f...
