Re: Flywheel question S2 OTS -69
I searched the net and the common opinion was that the flywheel and gear-ring was one part, that's why I searched for a new Flywheel. I will find out when dismantled the engine/clutch but it looks like it's one part in the picture. FYI... I mounted a new hi torque starter like 6 years ago but that o...

Flywheel question S2 OTS -69
Is the Flywheel ring a separate part or is it integrated in the flywheel? The high torque starter has totally ruined the thooths and I need to order either a new ring or a new flywheel. Also, have trouble finding a new flywheel at the usual suppliers that have the part in stock. Any tip who may have...

Rear bulkhead holes, which one for boot lock
On the rear bulkhead, on the right side… Can anyone confirm that the cable harness should go trough the lower hole and the boot lock handle in the upper one? Can’t see that it should be the opposite way. The reason I ask is that the new bulkhead panel I bought has a cutout that aligned to the lower ...

That’s the one…. Thank you
No I have to take it a part again to put it in place.

Re: Where does this part belong?
The Windshield rod is there for proportions, but they were stored in the same box so I assumed they are from the same area
Changing the whole interior so it should belong somewhere I suppose.

Re: Window mechanism
Thanks for the input, but it isn’t the teeth’s that are worn.
It is the small toothed wheel that has a play before it actually moves the big toothed metal part.
Missed to check the other door
and it has exactly the same play so I assume it’s by design.

Window mechanism
Sound damping my doors on my S2 OTS and overhauling my window frame and mechanism. Should there be a play in the window lift mechanism, seems like the small toothed weeel have a 60 degree play before the mechanism starts moving. Like the small wheel rotate a bit on its shaft before it starts to move...

Re: New gear reduction starter motor failure?
Took 3 days to tidy up the damaged tooth’s on the ring. Got a new starter motor today from SNG after I talked to Powerlite and SNG Barrat, they where both very helpful. Mounted the new one and tested it without spark plugs, spins very nice and no strange grinding or other strange noises. Still, when...

Re: New gear reduction starter motor failure?
I've called Powerlite this morning and as expected, they where very helpful. Decided that they probably send a small kit to fix the broken spring on the shaft since the starter is new and it's easier and quicker than returning the whole unit for a new one. The flywheels ring gear is another story, I...

Re: Manual steering rack , tie rod play.
I couldn't leave it so I started to really check where the play occurred and it's actually the rubber on the steering rack mounting that moves a lot before the wheels turn. To soft maybe but I will change to polyurethane just to get rid of that problem. Still, there is a little noticeable play in th...

New gear reduction starter motor failure?
I replace my old starter motor to a Powerlite gear reduction starter motor a 2 years ago. I did notice that it had problem getting the starter motor to really engage to to the flywheel ring gear but thought it had to "wear in" a little. Today it just spins when I turn the key so I removed it, tested...

Re: Manual steering rack , tie rod play.
Sorry for slow response but haven’t had time to scrutinize the problem, it’s a LH driven car without power steering. The plan is to wait until our short Swedish summer season has ended and then remove and try replace worn parts and rebuild it. Thanks for the input, will probably lift this thread whe...

Manual steering rack , tie rod play.
I rebuild almost all suspension/ steering 2020, but I didn’t do anything to the steering rack. At the time I couldn’t notice any play on the removed steering rack but later when remounted I notice a little play on the steering wheel. It’s a little annoying since I sometimes have to compensate a litt...
