Re: Mud guards/rubberstrips

Thanks for the picture, it helped. Maybe not as from factory but it seems like it should be “splash proof” now. Planning to do some kind of splash shield underneath the engine like on modern cars, would have been nice to be able to drive trough rain without having to clean the engine bay from all di...

Mud guards/rubberstrips

I bought a set of new rubber strips or mudguard from SNG last year and finally got some time to mount them but I'm not sure how they should be placed correctly. The left side is quite obvious , also the right side. But there are a metal strip that is wider than the others (except for the curved one)...

Re: where to get the small seals between 2 brake caliper halves

Same Girling calipers as on à Volvo P1800, I order everything from this Swedish firm much cheaper than for a jaguar.

Re: Brackets

Could it the backside support brackets for camber adjustments. Mine looked like the shims but was rectangular and slightly thicker then the round corned shims. Check the link.

Re: Which Seat Reclining Lever is it?

Thanks, just what I thought... it is probably the original ones then.
Just ordered seat runners etc but left the levers out, I will keep them and will try to weld and grind it to fit without any play since I can always replace them later.

Which Seat Reclining Lever is it?

I’m fixing my seats and need new seat reclining levers.
I have black “flat iron” ones but see that there are chromed ones, are they replaceable?
The chromed ones looks much nicer, can someone explain when they changed type.

Where to buy Headrest cover and seat cushions...

I'm planning to start fixing my seats but it's hard to find all parts from one source. Most "hard" parts is available from SNG but not all so I need some help here to find a firm from where I can order all the "soft" parts since the shipping cost otherwise gets so high :?: I need 2 headrest covers i...

Re: Any value in a damaged S2 bonnet?

I was afraid of that, he thinks it’s worth much more than it is.
He also selling his S2 69 FHC and it’s priced way to high.

Any value in a damaged S2 bonnet?

I have been offered to buy a bonnet where only the middle section is damaged, probably hit something straight on. Side wings are not damaged. It come from an old renovation where the owner bought a new one and got this over. He’s now quite old so he’s selling his car and all parts he’d had left over...

Sticky tacho problem solved

Well I just thought I shared my experience regarding my tachometer problem and maybe help someone. The needle suddenly started to stop at 2000rpm and the after a second or two, jump up to the correct higher rpm but only at load (driving). At the same time I did rebuild my ignition to "Wasted spark" ...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

I just want to thank you all for the input, I consider most of my problems to be solved or at least I know what can cause the problems and what I have to address. I need to recheck and weigh my float bowls, or maybe I just by new ones. Have to look into the vacuum source. I have changed the ignition...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

Hmm... First... sorry for my sometimes vague description of the parts... Very good points there MarekH but I misled you, the toothed wheel is of course mounted on the crankshaft as usual and not camshaft... sorry for that. The EFI rpm reading is accurate with the tachometer so that's ok. And I'm talk...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

I use map and rpm to dial in each cells ignition advance, rpm via sensor and toothed wheel on the camshaft. Haven't had time to play with the ignition yet but my plan is to use the base map provided here and just increase the advance at WOT a little. First I have to fine tune the mixture after chang...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

First of all I can say that new UE needles made a huge difference, now the engine responds at WOT (wide open throttle) as expected, much more response and acceleration. Probably needs some fine tuning on the mixture but it quite good as it is  Regarding the ignition map I am a little confuse...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

Finally found some UE needles at a Swedish "carburettor firm", they also told me to try use their oil (SAE 20) instead of the red ATF oil I always used before in carbs. The guy I talked to said it could be to thin and cause some of the oscillating at idle since the pistons needs more damping which m...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

Yes, it is my plan to change needles but I just haven't done it yet. Maybe I'm just to sensible about the idle, it does idle quite well and I can easily have it idle on 500 rpm but it should be more stable IMO. At 700 rpm it still falls down to 650 rpm every 8-10 second and the interesting thing is ...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

Took her for a drive today after learning the mixture a little (spark plugs where a little black after yesterday’s drive), definitely better idle and response when accelerating but still not acceptable. Seems like it going in the right direction at least. Found out that it isn’t that uncommon to hav...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

All linkages are without any play and the and butterfly valves closes correctly( everything is new), no airleaks. The needles are new from SNG, UM I think it was, I have a mangoletsi sport air cleaner from SNG instead of the original which should make it run a little lean but I thought switching nee...

Re: oscillating idle and lack of power

Oh, I wish my English where better :-) The needle has like a waist, by using a thin metal strip (0.05 mm) in the needle's waist while pressing the needle to the bottom of the piston, I can secure that all needles are exactly the same. 0.05 mm isn't much so the needle are near flush to the pistons, a...
