I set my front camber and caster before installing the torsion bars using links in place of the front shocks, set to ride height. Go for as much negative camber as you can get.

Assuming you want good handling and are running radial tires. I suggest you remove all the camber shims on both sides. Then only add shims to the most negative side so they are equal. Add equal thickness shims front and back of the upper A arm. Ideally you want some negative camber, but your suspens...

What if any function do these spacers perform? I forgot to reinstall them on my ongoing restoration and everything fits and functions...

It is bent. Straighten it out over something the same width at the rest of the channel.

If you take it apart you will find an electrolytic capacitor on the small circuit board. Replace the cap. This fixed mine.
