Silverstone Classic infield pass needed.

Due to a total lack of organisation on my part, i have missed the deadline for car club vehicles at this years Silverstone Classic, now know as 'The Classic'. I was hoping to be a part of the 60th E-Type celebrations at The Classic as i was 10 years ago at the 50th. Does anyone on the forum have a s...

I will check with Barratt's first thing that running the pump outside the tank in a bucket of water does not invalidate the warranty in any way? Pretty happy with everything else. i.e. earth, clear lines, no vacuum build up etc. That is why I am pulling my hair out & at the same time trying to avoid...

Replaced the original fuel pump with a new electric pump from Barratt's. I believed this new pump to be faulty as it would not draw/pump any fuel out of the tank. Sent the pump back to Barratt's & was informed that there was a problem with it. Just re fitted the returned pump & still no fuel being d...

Hi Angus,
I did fit a new cap last year. It has a small hole for venting about the size of a ball point pen.
These two breakdowns have occurred after the winter lay off.
I did think of giving you a call to discuss, but did not want to disturb you on a Sunday Angus.

This afternoon I have..... 1. Changed the rotor arm for a new I bought last year. It is from the same supplier though, a well known Doctor! 2. Inspected the pump & the filter. The filter was clean if a little squashed when I pulled it out. Re fitted with the filter as straight as possible. I only ha...

Hi Nick
Thanks for the reply.
I have my car on electronic ignition.
I would say that the pump did go very quiet.
Is it likely that the pump would run ok & then give out?

Series 1 FHC 3.8 Fuel Pump possibly faulty?

I have driven my Series 1 - 3.8 E a couple of times in the last week. On both occasions the car sadly cut out after a journey of about 30 minutes. The first time was just outside the house. It started to run lumpy & then cut out. It would not re start straight away. I left the car for about 20 minut...

Stolen 'E'

We spent an afternoon with the owner of the 'E' when we met at a car show in Essex recently. He had owned the car for over 10 years & was very happy with it. I hope there is a happy ending to the story? The car was originally Op Silver Blue. The owner had retro fitted a servo to the car where the ai...

Recommendation required for Herts/Essex Mechanic?

I am looking for recommendations from forum members for a good mechanic to look at my S1 3.8 FHC. My car has developed a slight issue with holding back under power/acceleration & occasionally a 'cough' under normal running. This issue developed after I replaced a carb float that had become flooded w...

David 'Heuer', I thank you for your sensible comments to my post. They were both refreshing & constructive. Other comments about 'ringers' & Stolen cars are a little over the top I feel. I think an apology for original comments about my advert would be well received from other contributors to this p...

E Type ID's......

Is the sale of an ID for a car illegal or just frowned upon by people who think the practise is fraudulent? I only ask after posting an advert for same on the Forum recently. I was genuinely helping out a pal who has an ID, but no car. I have seen wanted & For Sale adverts on the Forum of both Body ...
