Lookalike

Curious. Whilst out and about last week I bumped into a Scottish Wildcat, and looking back through my photos it seems that it was attempting a passable impression of a Jaguar growler......

Thanks Nick If I can get the JPS, then I'll be well on my way to forming a Boston tribute band: https://preview.redd.it/xgelv5z9dnsz.jpg?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=75402975ad41687cc9a5bc1925c24a2820d8a7dc I've already got a bicycle, so it's then just a motorbike and one of those funny little ...

Well done! Lovely looking car - but then I'm biased because it looks very similar to my own  You're going to have a lot of fun. Good to see that you've arrived here via a Lotus Europa too. I ran a yellow Special back in the Eighties and currently have my eye on a JPS car as a restoration p...

"Copy Nothing" - but do take the time to check what others have been getting up to first: https://iot-automotive.news/lancia-pura-hpe-the-first-car-in-lancias-new-era/ (Came out over a year ago, and no, we Lancisiti aren't exactly forming an orderly queue either - although I do think there's more de...

Unfortunately I appear to be off-scale (although, with a nod to Peter Crespin - if he's still around - I can do the Ventoux)

Re: E Type engine number.

All Series 2s are '7R's but they switched from using the -8/-9 suffixes at the end of 1970. From Philip Porter's book: From: Engine No.14269 Following engine number, letters replace figures to denote compression ratio. Henceforth: H - denotes High Compression S - denotes Standard Compression L - den...

Re: London Concours 5th June

It'll be good to see you there! They're very well organised once inside, so my best advice would simply be to get there early so that you're not having to nurse your 'E' through London traffic any more than you have to. They're likely to bring us in via the main entrance on City Road, but there's a ...

Only just seen this. Very sad news. Always very knowledgeable and 'correct'. He sent me a very nice PM a few years back after I'd been off-air for a while due to illness. He'll be missed.

Rest in Peace.

Re: Tracing an E-Type Series 3 for a friend

The original chassis number quoted will not be wholly incorrect. The 'P' prefix denotes power-steering - relatively uncommon on a Series 2 car.

Late '69 (which from the chassis number will likely be right) to Feb '71 was a long time for the car to have sat around unsold

Re: Panel gaps at the factory

Just to add for context that by that point the car would have had around 70-80,000 miles under its belt - although the passenger door would have seen far less use than the driver's door of course.

The less said about the bonnet gaps the better!
