Re: S1Air/Oil separator on breather?
https://i.postimg.cc/BvFQ2VR9/mounting-oil-separator.jpg I have a small oil seprator, basically a small aluminium container with a filter on top. Internals in the container are separating fume and drops. Drops collected in the container which can be emptied with a small ball valve mounted in the bo...

Re: Introduction of Lizzy
Hi Kevin,
my favourite E-type, S1 OTS ! I own mine since 1987 and enjoy it every day.
Either driving the car, looking at it or just thinking about the next trip.....
Reliable and always lots of interest when it is parked somewhere
Have fun and drive it as much as possible

Re: Flywheel & starter motor 3.8 vs. 4.2
Hi Steve, I currently have a 4.2 engine with corresponding gearbox. Once the 3.8 engine is ready I like to use the existing gearbox again but now it is clear that I should use the complete 4.2 gearbox with flywheel and clutch. Sorry for my poor English, that might be confusing..... Thanks for your r...

Re: Series 2 differential ratio
I changed to 2:88 some years ago and very happy with the result, can only recommend to do so. Mine came from XJS, I also took the calipers from XJS, also an improvement. Kept the originals with the car. At 130 kmh now ca. 2800 rpm, very comfortable. The only issue I had was with the alternator, crui...

Thank you all for your comments, it seems that the movie "Mission Impossible" gets a second chapter.
Will try to convince my nephew that without his support I can't drive the E type anymore

Refitting washer jet S1 3.8
The left hand side washer jet came loose, no big deal but form where can I reach the jet ?? I can't recall how I installed it >>20 years ago, my car is an early 3.8 LHD It seems that the only way is removing the heater box, but before doing so better to ask for advice. I remember that it is fastened...

Re: Distributor drive gear nut removal
Thank you for your support. Once I "blocked" the gear shaft it was just two taps with a relative heavy bronze bar on the spanner to release the nut. Crankshaft came out for inspection and seems to be in good shape. Now cleaning all parts and bring them parts to a professional workshop for measuring,...

Distributor drive gear nut removal
https://i.postimg.cc/XJ9qxHM8/distributor-drive-gear.jpg I was lucky to be able to buy an early 3.8 E type engine (matching cylinder block, cylinder head, flywheel etc.) with smooth sump. Engine is in good condition but will be overhauled anyway, dismantling nearly done but facing problems with rem...

Re: Crack in smooth sump 3.8 engine
Thanks for all replies.
I was afraid that cast aluminium will be difficult as the composition of the cast alu is not clear.
Will check with a professional welder but now quite confident that this sump can be saved.
Thanks again

Crack in smooth sump 3.8 engine
I was able to buy a 1962 E type engine with matching numbers (engine; cylinder head; flywheel). Nearly competely dismantled and seems to be in good shape, the only problem sofar is a slight crack in the sump. It was "repaired" with liquid gasket and it seems to me that this was tight. What is the be...

Hi Barrie, for whatever reason the PM remains in my Outbox, I don't know how to send it..... thank you for your reply, that is interesting. Is it the "bare" housing, housing with relieve valve etc. or is it a complete filter ? Just checked the possibilities to ship to the Netherlands, if send via Ro...

oil filter housing 3.8
Happy New Year ! The oil filter heads / housings of 3.8 and 4.2 engines are slight different. Some claim they are interchangeable, others say you can't do so. I can not find the final answer and I don't want to gamble.... I am sure someone knows the answer...... I am looking for a 3.8 oil filter hea...

Re: looking for Km/h Speedo, have miles speedo... for E-1966
I had the same issue, changing from MPH to KPH. Bought a new speedo face at SNG and changed the gear ratio in the speedo meter. Take out the speedo meter, fix a paper needle at the inner cable and count the revolutions when the car is driven (pushed) over a accurate distance (I took exact 20 meters)...

engine E type 3.8 value
I am the owner of an early series 1 DOHC, currently with a MK10 engine with E type carter etc. The engine had an extensive rebuild, last year the valves have been adjusted. Strong engine, healthy oil pressure. I am offered a complete e type engine 3.8 (1963) with 3x SU's, Moss box etc. No clue about...

Re: In line brake pressure switch failure
The hydraulic switch is mounted in the piping on the cross member for the front brakes, if you need to bleed the system (which I don't expect) it is just the front brakes. I changed my switch without bleeding, bought at SNG Barratt in the Netherlands.
