Re: Testing brake vacuum check valve
Ok. In the absence of replies I tried to figure out how it works. With the top inlet/outlet I’m able to suck air but not blow it. With the lower inlet/outlet I’m able to suck air and blow it. Am I right in thinking it’s working?

Testing brake vacuum check valve
On my Series 2 car there is a slight delay before the servo kicks in on the brakes. I suspect the brake vacuum check valve on top of the reservation tank. I’ve got the valve off and on the bench but are not sure how to test it. Advice appreciated.

Choke lever mechanism: series 2 FHC
The choke lever on my car is missing the mechanism which holds it in the on positions. Can anyone direct me to an exploded view of the lever mechanism so I can see what's missing?
Thank you.
Thank you.

This was the photo which misled me, although looking more closely it’s only a few digits which seem to stand proud:

Engine plate stampings
Am I right in thinking that on the E Type engine plate the letters/numbers stand proud (ie are stamped from the reverse side) rather than indented?

Position of brake fluid reservoirs.
I believe I am right in thinking that on the series 2 cars the brake fluid reservoirs were in different places depending on whether the car was LHD or RHD. Which was it that had them placed together, alongside the clutch fluid reservoir, on the OFFSIDE bulkhead?

Series 2 changes (in detail)
Somewhere in the literature on the E Type there's reprinted a contemporary report listing the many changes incorporated in the Series 2 cars (much beyond just the obvious ones). It may have been a Jaguar press release. Anyhow I’ve been looking for it unsuccessfully. Can anyone point me in the right ...

Series 2 brake question
After a period of being off the road, the brakes on my series 2 needed attention, mainly because the servo system seemed no longer to be working. I overhauled both the servo and the master cylinder. The servo now works, and the brakes are good, although there seems to be a slight delay in the operat...

Seeking help with interpreting the rusted and only partially legible timing marks on a 4.2 series 2 e type (US import)

Re: Strange engine problem
Seeking advice I’ve been told that if the diaphragms are split, the carbs will leak fuel. What if they are just hardened? Might that be the cause of the problem?

Re: Strange engine problem
Hello Steve,
Re carbs we checked pistons, recentred jets and retuned. We didn’t check the diaphragms however, because I wasn’t aware of their existence...now I am. Tomorrow I’ll remove carbs.

Re: Strange engine problem
It’s been suggested to me that there are diaphrams is these su's? Is that correct? This might be the problem - destroyed by the new fuel?

Strange engine problem
I have an engine problem that's unusual. I’m hoping somone can shed light on it. The car is a 1968 4.2 on SU's. The problem is this. On starting it will fire instantly and tick over without misfiring. But it won’t respond to the accelerator. It’s as if it’s gasping for fuel. After a couple of minute...

E type and Big Healey
I’ve known a few people who have swapped their big Healey for an E Type, but never the other way around. Anyone?
