Makers of E-type tools

Hi David, Update from me. I have been collecting various bits from all over the place, and now have a reasonable selection to start putting a couple of toolkits together. The bad news is the makers of the different tools vary a lot, e.g. spanners from SSP, Snail, Carrington etc... Were the set maker...

Thanks David, that's good to know. Is there ay consensus on high grade stainless steel spokes instead of chrome/paint?

The FHC is opalescent and the OTS solid, so I guess I could always swap them over if I picked up an original set to paint or do in SS.

Best.

More info on considered wheels

Hi all,

I don't know if this helps itentify the wheels I am considering?

DRC-5K x 15 U, Made In England

Where do you guys stand on having the spokes redone in high grade stainless steel (strength/no rust to worry about)?

Best.

Hello Peter, For what it is worth I know they have done less than 15k miles as the car is a one owner car with less miles than above on it (documented). The car has sat in a barn for 20+ years with little use during this time so they are very dirty and there is some light suface rust only (I have ne...

Wire wheel differences

Hello all, Does anybody know/have a guide to the differences in wire wheels over the years on S1 and S2 cars. I gather that there were a phase 1 and 2 on the S1 cars (correct?). My car is 1965, but I gather it has later wires? My hub is angled rather than curved, hence curly hub. Looks like I answer...

Hello James,

Welcome. I am no mechanic either but if you need some help from a local (St Johns Wood), feel free to shout (or PM me ;-)

All,

Looks like there are plenty of us 30 somethings driving E-types too. For the record if somebody does a Forum average age, I'm 37.

Best.

S1 4.2 OTS Tool Kit photos needed

Hello all,

Please can someone share some photos of the correct tool kit for a S1 4.2 OTS, or links to what it should look like?

Many thanks.

Hello and sorry for the Avatar

Hello all, Sorry for the Avatar, but the Lotus is a long-term car for me and I am just as in love as I was at day one :D I promise I will switch it over when I have an S1 4.2 to show off. If any of you are in NW London and want to chew the fat or show off you car and buying stories, my ears are open...
