There would be no harm in removing the cross over and installing the shaped cover used on the later S2 federalized engines, like mine (see my xkedata page, link below) or make your own blanking plate to cover the opening on the intake manifold. Just be sure that the gasket is well sealed. While you ...

Until I saw your picture I never knew why the air trumpet assembly has that "nick" out of the bottom - looks like its there to clear the pedal assembly on the right-hookers.

Allow me to clarify my question: I was asking about using the single reverse lamp as found on the S1 cars (and clearly shown in the photo above) located just over the twin exhaust pipes to eliminate the two MGB style reverse lamps hanging under the bumper of the S2 cars. This would obviate the need ...

I certainly like the way Peter's car looks. IIRC one has to use the rear light assemblies from a Lotus Elan, or fab your own to incorporate the reverse lamps. Why not use the entire reverse lamp and housing from a S1? Is the curvature of the rear valence different?

Simon: It certainly applies to the S2, as I had my back seat out just yesterday to bleed the brakes. There is a cavity on either side just in front of the lower seat belt mounting points that on my car still had the original wad of kapok sound deadening stuffing. Out of curiosity I pulled the wad ou...

Andrew:
The cap on the radiator is a plain, non-pressurized cap, i.e. just a rubber gasket to seal it. The non-AC equipped cars use a 7 lbs. pressure cap on the expansion tank, cars w/ AC use a 13 lbs. rated cap.

IIRC, it was used on the 3.8L engine. Shouldn't be there on a 4.2L, so no wonder it won't be on the later wiring diagram.

I wonder if someone swapped heads with a 3.8L?

Inca: How OCD are you about keeping the oil level on the dipstick at or near MAX? Some, myself included, have noticed that oil consumptions drops off if the oil level is kept near the bottom of the cross hatching, which is somewhere between 7 and 8 quarts (US) in the sump, i.e. between 6 and 7 quart...

Andrew: Well I will say that on your diagram the wire colors look more like the actual wiring in the car, when compared to the others. Well done. I downloaded a copy. And if nothing else the exercise has given you a better understanding of your car's wiring. You won't need to refer to the diagram an...

Try posting a "parts wanted" ad in the classifieds of the Jag-lovers site. More likely to find it in North America I would think.

E-10 fuels have been used in North America for some time now, and we are surviving, no worse for the wear. Mostly. Ethanol will attack rubber and some alloys if left to its own devices for long enough. The general consensus is that its OK to use as long as the car is driven frequently. If the car go...

John C: I posted this earlier: I asked the Jag-lovers forum about the kit last year and the consensus was to install the kit, at the very least, on the exhaust side, and preferably the intake as well, especially if the car has ever overheated. See that thread here: http://forums.jag-lovers.org/av.ph...
