Wide wheels

When I needed new wheels for my 1963 Fhc I got the wider ones 6 1/2 I think with 205 white wall tyres from sc in Gatwick. I,d read somewhere that wider wheels could be fitted so long as the bump stops were left off. The new wheels were a bit of a squeeze to get on be we got there without too much sw...

I fitted Zeus calipers front and rear on my 1963. 3.8 and they are just as good as modern brakes. Zeus did stress that the front brakes had to be fitted the right way up or they wouldn't,t bleed properly. Your problem might be as simple as that. Check that the bleed nipple is at the top

Rear wheel bearings

My car is a 1963 3.8 Fhc. Do I need to remove the back axle to change the rear wheel bearings or can they be changed with the car just jacked up and the hub carrier etc removed?

I had bas in South Wales make me a complete interior for my 63 Fhc and could not recommend them highly enough. The man who made my kit was called jack and was always willing to advise when it came to fitting and would call back if he was busy during the day. Hope this helps

I didn,t specifically check for polarity on the dynamo when it was checked. Never gave it a thought to be honest. The black box under the heater box is the original that has always been on the car. Not having the slightest clue of how electrics work the box was fitted back on to the car and connecte...

when I start the engine the ammeter shows a discharge as expected but once the engine is running it still shows it discharging. When anything electrical is used ie indicators, brake lights etc,it shows even more discharge. This means that the car can only be driven for short journeys because the batt...

If your car is older than mine, and mine was built on 7/6/63 as stated on my heritage certificate then yours like mine is a pure run of the mill 3.8 and is nowhere near the changeover to 4.2 or series 11/2. Just my veiw.

My ,63 Fhc is chassis no 888806 and was made on June 7th. Yours seems to be older which might make the previous information beyond doubt.

I got a set of whitewall tyres fitted and balanced when I bought new 61/2 inch wide wheels from sc parts in Crawley. This is for a 63 fhc and they just fit but look fantastic. Give them a call and ask for Neil. He is really helpfull and I think theres a good discount at the moment
