Re: The Yoof! Efi Conversion. These Guys will Go Far.
I have a Triumph TR3 running on Jenvey Heritage throttle bodies which resemble a Weber body. https://store.jenvey.co.uk/throttle-bodies-and-components/throttle-bodies/heritage-dcoe Jenvey were considering producing their conversion with look a like SU bodies but as far as I'm aware haven't progresse...

Re: Carburettor banjo bolt sealing
I've had the same issue. It seemed to me that the problem is that the diameter of the fibre washer is larger then the diameter of the hole in the banjo, hence the need to keep tightening it until the washer is squashed in the rebate around the hole. If the washer sat against the rebate I don't think...

Re: 5-Speed Boxes
I believe that in decisions of this kind the price is really irrelevant, its what the owners wants from their car. If you can't afford £8k for the conversion that doesn't make it bad. We all spend ludicrous amounts of money on our cars, we just have different priorities on how we spend it. I've just...

Christopher,
I believe the poster meant find an E Type with a V8 conversion and replace that with the 3.8.

Re: Cover for car
Splosh,
I use a car cover on my recently restored and resprayed car so don't want this problem. Did the people who sprayed the car explain how the cover would cause these blisters?
Interestingly the company who did the work on my car gave me a cover to use on it whilst on my garage.

Re: Cleaning wheels
After initial cleaning and polishing with Autosol metal polish I use Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner. Spray it on to dry wheels, leave for a couple of minutes and then jet wash it off. The hard part is the first stage of cleaning and polishing, plenty of dusters, an old toothbrush and very sore ...

Re: Carburettor banjo fibre washer leaks
Thanks for the advice everyone. I didn't realise how much the bolts should be tightened so gave it a try and the problem seems to be solved. It would be good to be able to get some correct size fibre washers.

Re: Carburettor banjo fibre washer leaks
Coincidentally I was about to post on this same subject. My impression is that the washers available are of a slightly to large a diameter. It looks as though the washer should fit into the groove in the circumference of the banjo fitting. The bolt has a shoulder which should compress the washer. By...

Re: Early 1960’s Jaguar engineering
I like the bloke taking the heads out of what looks like a giant steam cleaner - tee shirt, no gloves and a flat cap  I'm probably twice his size and couldn't chuck heads around like that, even allowing for the speeded-up film. Notice how they were far less chubby on average than today? I can ...

Re: Which 185 tyre: Dunlop or Pirelli or Michelin ?
My guess is that in general use where most of us don't drive our cars particularly hard there will be very little difference between Pirelli, Michelin and Vredstein tyres. I don't know If I drive very differently to others but I generally change up a gear at about 3k rpm and let the torque do the wo...

The subject of ceramic coatings has been covered many times on various club forums. I've yet to see a conclusion that they live up to their claims but good luck.

Re: E Type equals what other classic
I have a 1965 4.2 S1 fhc together with a Triumph TR3a to remind me what sports cars were like before Jaguar launched the E type. They've just been joined by a new Alpine A110 which I'm sure will be a future classic.

Re: E-type market - are cars selling?
Trevor, I'm sorry but I don't know anything about your car but my thoughts are as follows. If I were in the market to buy a car costing in the region of £100k or more I would want a detailed service, restoration and rebuild history. Matching numbers also seem to be of great relevance to many buyers ...

Re: E-type illustrations - colour help
I don't know if its my screen but the colours don't look quite right to me. The carmen red doesn't seem to have enough orange in it and the green and blue seem very light. Sorry to be negative, the actual pictures are superb. If you suggest a price you might get a good idea of uptake.

David,
Thank you for your explanation. I think I've got my head around it but then had another thought; why doesn't the front suspension have similar bump stops?

David,
Not doubting your observations but don't the springs come into play when the car is cornering in that they counteract roll?
thanks

Re: Idiot Calling - diesel in E type
I did the same thing in my TR3a. I was filling a nearly empty fuel tank so I decided to syphon as much of the diesel mix out as possible and then re-filled with petrol. Emptied the float chambers and primed the pump until I could smell some petrol rather than pure diesel coming through then fired it...

Re: Exhaust manifolds / headers.
There's been a lot of correspondence on the TR Register forum about the claims made for ceramic coatings reducing under bonnet temperatures. The consensus after various tests, although not particularly scientific, is that they make no appreciable difference. Visually they are quite good but that's a...
