advice for novice regarding screws for trim
Hi I have a S2 2+2 and where the doors open, on the A pillar of the car, effectively over the leading edge of the door window if the door was closed, there is chrome trim held in place by small slotted countersunk screws (forgive me for terminology if inexact) I have some missing but the rest are ru...

Re: IRS rebuild required, can anyone recommend a UK specialist in south of England?
Bosham is local - I have experienced some previously unheard clunks and vibration from the rear on journeys since this damper started leaking - There is no sign of recent work in this area and I suppose I was assuming lots of rubber parts might be long past their best, however, having it assessed be...

Thanks for info so far....reassuring R&R costs not too much more on top. I am hoping someone might be able to recommend a refurbishment option but if not will start phoning around next week

Re: IRS rebuild required, can anyone recommend a UK specialist in south of England?
Thanks all I was thinking do it properly and do it once, so full strip, new perishables, powder coat etc. Possibly my discs and callipers can be reused but I know from having the front done how it can be hard finding parts for previously replaced old items, making it cheaper to possibly just get new...

Re: IRS rebuild required, can anyone recommend a UK specialist in south of England?
Thank you, sounds as though 4 dampers might be a good place to start
But I would still welcome any advice on where to go for IRS rebuild as and when necessary if anyone has any recommendations (and price guidance)
Many thanks
Kevin

IRS rebuild required, can anyone recommend a UK specialist in south of England?
I have a 1970 S2 2+2 which has a failed rear damper which is leaking and a garage has told me needs to be replaced - and whilst I was hoping to avoid expense for a few years (engine rebuild last year) I think this could be the right time to get the IRS overhauled properly, new mounts, diff overhaul ...

many thanks for all the help. I finally have managed to get two of the missing strips, and 10 screws, and with the help of a dextrous friend my windows are now secure.

Many thanks for the confirmation
Both windows are the same, maybe the previous owner lost that strip during the re-spray - I am going to get ordering a new pair
thanks again

Re: quarterlight window S2 S+2 Fell out - help please
I really appreciate both of your bits of information and somehow my previous reply was lost. Anyway I have finally managed to get back to look at this matter and I’m pretty sure that I am missing the trim strip which should be screwed to hold the window in place. I’m going to try to add some photogr...

quarterlight window S2 S+2 Fell out - help please
As per title, while bouncing over the grass car park at Goodwood one quarterlight fell out - both were in the fixed open position. Luckily only a chip to paintwork, window OK, but only one screw found (perhaps I was missing one) While I can see how to offer the forward edge of the window up to the f...

Re: car lift
Thanks for the reply Steve....being careful I can understand....but apart from anything obvious like exhaust pipes....is there anything I need to watch for? certainly I can appreciate not wanting to squeeze brake pipes or wiring but I am more concerned about damaging the body from doing this incorre...
Re: car lift
Can anyone confirm to me that something like the autolift 3000 (just watched the video) is suitable for lifting an E Type 2+2 ? I am a new owner and was advised to jack up carefully using for example a suspension point for the jack. Is it as simple as the video shows, placing the autolift roughly in...

Re: Help needed to find correct ventilated front brake discs
What a great forum, under 24 hours and already some really helpful comments, thank you all. I have someone working on the car and perhaps I have misunderstood about the callipers - I shall investigate that more today. Here are a couple of photos to show the area in question. I shall see what can be ...

Help needed to find correct ventilated front brake discs
Hoping someone has a suggestion.... Car is a Series 2 2+2, 1970 going back together after lengthy engine rebuild. In the past the car has been extensively worked on by (now defunct) VSE and others. It has ventilated discs fitted front and rear, both an upgrade from original at some stage in the past...

S2 4.2 L engine rebuild - any other things to consider at this time?
I am having my engine completely overhauled and rebuilt - long story - but the block is back from re-bore and the crankshaft is freshly ground and was fitted today. Are there any other jobs/mods that I really should consider asking for at the same time? It is an expensive job already BUT would be an...
