Re: IDLE MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT ON THE STROMBERG 175 CD-2
Yes, Peter. I'm not going to fiddle with the carbs any more until I learn more about them. When I bought the car 6 cars ago from a local person who had it just sitting in his yard with no hopes of restoring it, it took forever to start and ran very choppy. I brought it to a local restorer who worked...

Re: IDLE MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT ON THE STROMBERG 175 CD-2
Thanks for that info, Mark, but I think that the problem may be something that John was talking about and I want to try to check the diaphragms first before changing the needles out, both of which I know nothing about at the moment. John, would it say in the manual where the diaphragms are and how t...

IDLE MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT ON THE STROMBERG 175 CD-2
Could you gents please set me straight on how to adjust the idle mixture on the Stromberg 175 CD-2 Carburetors, if it can be done at all ? I've read that they're set at the factory, but there is a trim adjustment screw on the right side, but which way do you turn it to make the mixture lean ? The ca...

Re: Seeking advice for new brake pipes
I watched a You-tube video where the guy use steel compression fittings to join the brake lines. Has anyone done this ? My rear brake line blew a hole when I drove it after sitting for 6 years and I applied the brakes. -Mike

NEW RADIATOR...
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know where I can get a new radiator for my Series 2, 4.2, 2 + 2 ? SNG says that they no longer carry it (part C32080) on p. 140 of the catalogue. I'm in the USA so any sellers this side of the pond would be good. Thanks, Mike

Re: Transmission oil cooler removal....
Thanks, Steve. The lines going into and out of the radiator are good and not leaking. It's coming from right above where the cooling fans are. I'm going to take those off today to see if I can have a better view of what's going on. I'll keep you posted ! -Mike

Transmission oil cooler removal....
Hi Gentlemen, The automatic transmission oil cooler that sits under (?) the radiator in my car just sprung a major leak and is squirting out AT fluid when the car is running. Does anyone have any advice on removing and replacing it, or is it part of the radiator. I can't find anything on it in the f...

Re: Adjusting Stromberg idle mixture 4.2, 2 + 2...
Thanks for all that good info, guys. I did some research and the screw I'm pointing to in the picture IS the choke adjustment screw. There is a screw for adjusting the mixture on the other side of the carbs but I can't keep the engine running long enough now to do that because the transmission oil c...

Re: STARTING CAR WITH FUEL SYSTEM COMPLETELY DRY...
Just an update, gents. I got the new fuel pump in and the car started right up ! But after having to replace a cracked and broken rear exhaust manifold, it is definitely running too rich so now I got to take care of that issue.

Re: WELDING AND CHICKEN WIRE ON BONNET ?
Okay, thanks for that information, guys. And I just found out from SNG USA that the RH and LH air ducts and valances for the bonnet are no longer available unless you buy the WHOLE bonnet. Any idea where else I can buy them ?

TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK FROM RADIATOR ???
Hi Guys, After sitting for 6 years, I finally got my car started last month and it started leaking transmission fluid from the bottom of the radiator. The car has an automatic transmission and there is a line going in and out of the bottom of the radiator. I checked both lines and tightened the hose...

Hi Guys, Does anyone have any advice on how to adjust the idle mixture on a 1971, Series 2, 4.2, 2 + 2 ? Is it possible to do it without having an exhaust analyzer ? Re: OIL CAPCACITY OF 1971 S2, 4.2, 2+2
Hi Steve, I cleaned off the area as you suggested, and there is no leak unless the engine is running. I found two transmission lines going into the radiator. I tightened up the hose clamps and am going to start it again and see what happens. But the engine is definitely running too rich. When I chan...

WELDING AND CHICKEN WIRE ON BONNET ?
Hi Gents, I'm going to have to replace the front under panel assembly on the bonnet because it's all rusted, but when disassembling it I found that the previous owner had welded it to the main bonnet at the ends. Is this normal ? The guy at SNG told me that the bonnet parts are just secured together...

Re: OIL CAPCACITY OF 1971 S2, 4.2, 2+2
Hi Guys, I'm sorry for the late reply. I've been installing an A/C system in the house and the car had to be put on hold for a while. I measured the dipstick and it is only 9 1/2 inches from the bottom to the stopper. So if I add the half inch to the level on the stick it will indicate that the oil ...
