Reverse Light Stuck On
Hi... have been trying to get my reverse lights to work, haven't work since I bought the 1970 XKE five years ago... I was pushing the stick shift in and out of each gear and reverse to see if I could get the switch to engage... not sure what happened inside the transmission, but now the reverse ligh...

Re: Maximum # of Boot Coil Springs?
Well the answer is... 9 springs did it. Boot pops up nicely even with a luggage rack installed. Hopefully I don't need to do this repair again in my lifetime!

Re: Maximum # of Boot Coil Springs?
I managed to get 9 springs on each coil tonight. The "trick" I used to make it easier than the last time I did it was to use a longer bolt (about 1" long) to attach the coil to the base and left about a 1/4" of slack in the bolt so that pulling the individual springs out from the center of the coil ...

Maximum # of Boot Coil Springs?
Hi, my PO had three coils on each side of the boot but also had a piece of wood left in the boot to hold the lid up. I have added 3 more to each side and the boot lid still only stays open about 5 inches... (PO installed a luggage rack on the lid, so I have some weight to offset here)... just bought...

Chassis ID Plate Overlay - Have stamped numbers but no text left on plate
Hi... I thought I saw someone posted a .pdf or an image that can be downloaded and printed out on film to over lay on top of the chassis plate. Mine is the 1.5" tall by 6 5/8" long aluminum plate. The numbers are still clearly stamped on it, but the black silk screening is all gone. If you know wher...

Re: New one wire alternator... removing unused wires
My before and after detailing engine compartment ... Covid finally gave me the time to pull the left side of the engine compartment apart... replace old hoses, remove non functional factory AC components... cleaned up and painted nearly all the components... not new... but sure looks a lot better!

Re: New one wire alternator... removing unused wires
John and Chris... being new to the forum... I truly appreciate any and all advice... I bought my S2 5 years ago (first fell in love xke's when a soccer team mate in high school... probably in 1976 ... bought a very rough E which now I suspect was a S1... it took me 40 years to find the time and $ to...

Re: New one wire alternator... removing unused wires
Took the bold step and removed the fan, over ride and ac relays... engine just purrs... am curious if the voltage regulator which has a lead going to the Bosch Relay for the fan can be removed as well... will figure that out tomorrow!

Re: Fan Relay replaced with Bosch Relay... Can I remove old relay?
so another day of tinkering... Covid has provided me much time to spend under the Bonnet that would have been pushed to another time... so am enjoying the progress being made... I reconnected everything this morning... tested on all components before starting the engine and she started right up! Fan...

Fan Relay replaced with Bosch Relay... Can I remove old relay?
I started to ask this question in a prior post before I had a better understanding of what the PO did (mind you better not perfect understanding)... I have traced the fan wires to a Bosch 0 332 019 150 relay which appears to been installed I suspect replacing the fan relay mounted in front of the en...

Re: New one wire alternator... removing unused wires
Since the alternator has a regulator built into it... can I remove the relay that mounted above the battery? Is there anything else that can be removed? Trying to clean up the engine compartment of wires not being used.

New one wire alternator... removing unused wires
Hi... my PO installed a single wire alternator and left the unused wires just hanging. I have pulled apart the wiring loom and can remove these unused wires... any reason not to?

Removing AC Relay and Over Ride Relay
Hi... my PO had disabled and removed the compressor for the factory installed AC in my 1970 E... several wires are just dead ended, some have been spliced with different colored wires making tracing wires down and figuring out what where they go a bit of a challenge... I have removed / pulled what I...

John... I found an in color electrical diagram and it appears that the two relays are for the fan (#1) and ac (#2)... gonna see if the wires match up on the print tomorrow!

Re: Factory AC Removal - good idea?
John... there what appear to be two relays... silver boxes 1" by 3" by 2" mounted in front of the engine on the right side... what I believe is the AC wiring harness (the AC Resistor mounted on the heat shield is attached to part of the wires coming out from the under the dash)... do you know what t...
