Congratulations Ian. I hope the sun comes out on Sunday so that you can have a play. Whatever it sounds as if just looking at her will do for starters. A great combination of model and colour.
Have fun
Andy

John I think 34 @ 3000rpm is about as far as you want to go but the nice thing with the 123 is that you can start with something similar to your current set up and then notch things up until it gets upset. Unfortunately you have to pull the unit to make changes which is my only real complaint but I ...

I'm a big supporter of the 123 after fitting it about a year ago. A search will throw up earlier posts but it gets my vote. I grew up on Champion plugs but sadly I don't think the quality has be up to NGK over the last decade or so (God I'm getting on). That said I've got some Champion Iridiums in a...

John I'm very sorry for my tardy reply but I've be rather tied up with that annoying work stuff for a few weeks so I've been using the car rather than tinkering and posting. I have the Jag version and I'm on curve 7 and 10 BTDC static but I do use super unleaded and an additive that claims to boost ...

Steve They are a straight bolt on job on the Series 1 but do need a gizmo to work with the Series 2 tacho. I don't have the details to hand but I think you will find the subject covered on their website and almost certainly on Jag Lovers. It's amazing just how rough your engine was before you knew b...

Pete I'd be slightly careful if just upgrading the fronts (like me). I've got Wilwoods on mine and the braking is a little out of balance. It's fine if you know but I wouldn't want to stamp on the brakes without thinking. Moving the old front calipers to the back is a good cheapskates solution. Andy...

I'm with Mark on this one Erik. If it was taken back to the metal in 2002 all you should need now is a fresh topcoat to get a nice even colour and shine all over. This talk of paint got me thinking. My car had a respray in 66 when new as the first owner couldn't get it in the colour he wanted. It wa...

Thanks chaps. I'll pass that along with the news that we'll be doing quench testing from cherry red before I try them out. His first thoughts were a metal oxide-ceramic composite. I've no idea whether that is a good or bad idea but I'll let him have an old manifold to play with and some photos of th...

Exhaust Manifold Temperatures
I've just been talking to somebody that does various finishes on cast exhaust manifolds and he is going to have a bash at mixing up something that will look original but not crack and fall off after 5 mins. He asked me if I knew what sort of temperatures we were talking about. I didn't. Has anybody ...
