Re: Series 1 seat frame reassembly question

I think I figured out both bracket locations after doing a whole lot of digging on this forum. Here is a phot that I located that illustrates the position of both parts. https://i.postimg.cc/9FSwPqyh/Screenshot-2023-03-05-at-9-27-48-AM.jpg I too was unable to locate the larger of the two brackets at...

Series 1 seat frame reassembly question

I realize now that I should have taken more photos prior to disassembling the Series 1 FHC seats. I had the seats re-upholstered and now I’m busy putting them back together. The issue I’ve come up with is this. https://i.postimg.cc/FKdZrdNm/59305b037c813a688c457b59752c556bb20d279a.jpg I have these t...

Re: Series 1 FHC seat base question

Further research indicated that this is a tack (or squab) strip. It is a rubberized (with some fiber) material. It was dried and cracked so I removed it. After I showed the material to the trimmer he identified the material and ordered some tack strip (3/8 inch by 1/2 inch) to replace the old stuff....

Series 1 FHC seat base question

I'm in the process of having my front seats recovered by a local upholstery shop. When they disassembled the seats, they noted to be the condition of the metal base and seat back. Apparently, in these seats distant past the leather and foam was glued to the frame creating a bit of a mess. Additional...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Well for all you 5-speed thread watchers. Wait until spring and I'll start a Mangoletsi throttle cable installation thread. Interestingly, it will be on the same Jaguar that our buddy GT Joey installed the Guy Broad 5-speed on. "How is that Bob?" you may ask, well it seems that Joey's baby with the ...

Re: Series 2 Steering Column question

Thank you for the reply with great information about this column segment. It is kind of what I expected, but not what I was hoping for. If I then want to remove the column from the pedal box, it would appear that the only way to do that would be to disconnect the column from the steering box down wh...

Re: Series 2 Steering Column question

Here is a snippet from the SNG catalog showing the part in question. It is Part # 1 in the illustration.

From this drawing it does appear to be in two distinct sections. Anyone know for sure?

Series 2 Steering Column question

Can anyone explain the section of the Series 2 (non-power steering) steering column to me? It appears to me that the section that extends from inside the drivers compartment (short section after the universal joint) through the pedal box and down to the steering box has two sections. The top part fr...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

If it were my car, I'd want an original black eight ball looking knob with 5th gear and reverse in the correct orientation. A few years ago, I had a leather "Jaguar" shift knob with the Growler on top and took my car to my local club Concours and lost a point (in the Driven Class) for having a "non-...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

I follow Joey's threads for two major reasons, although there is a third reason that I'll get to at the end. The first reason is the most obvious. Joey tends to be a ground breaker in terms of making modification to a 60 year old car design that are intended to make it safer, more enjoyable, and/or ...

Joey be careful out there buddy, your car is now 20% more likely to fail on the way to Maine.

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Wow, speaking of thread drift........

I once worked with a guy who when you asked him what time it was, felt the need to tell you how watches were made. I'm betting that Joeys welds will be just fine and the car won't crack in half or be 20% more likely to fail in most of our lifetimes.

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Wait a minute....... you cut the cross member and the top of the tunnel?????? How much to those brass balls of yours slow you down? That's amazing Joey. I agreed fully with you despite the occasional skeptics that the cut and welded (as well as steel glued) cross member is not going to be any kind o...
