Re: Thermostat housing bypass.

Installed the thermostat, filled with antifreeze, run up to temperature, showing normal on gauge, fans kicked in as required. All seems normal thankfully. Thanks for your responses.

Re: Thermostat housing bypass.

Just checked that now Steve and it’s all clear. I will put it all back together now. Will let you know the outcome.

Re: Thermostat housing bypass.

Thanks for the advice Andrew. I’ve already purchased the thermostat and gaskets from SNG and after a little bit of gentle persuasion have just got that bleeder moving a little so I’ll just get it all back together and see how it goes. ATB. Paul.

Re: Thermostat housing bypass.

Hi Steve, there was no thermostat at at all. I just came across this item and part number in SC catalogue. Any suggestions? Do I just fit a new thermostat or do I bite the bullet and get one f these new valves?

Thermostat housing bypass.

I noticed that my S2 running cold after a lay up so this morning I decided to replace the suspected thermostat and replenish the antifreeze. When I removed the outer thermostat cover I was surprised to find that there was no thermostat installed?? and the bypass solid pipe was blocked not only with ...

Automatic air bleed valve.

Does any member recommend fitting a Rob Beere Automatic Air Bleed Valve to the manifold? Seems like a good improvement or not?

Re: Shortening IRS components

I second your comment Jeremy. When using any machinery metal working or wood working, safety glasses are a must and second nature to wear them. This was instilled in me as an apprentice fitter a long time ago. You only have one pair of eyes.

Re: Moisture/water dripping down my engine block

A test is that if you have antifreeze in the cooling system you should easily tell if it is a leak by either wiping it with a clean white paper towel ( should show colour) or the taste test should show what fluid it is.
Just a thought ……is your garage dry/cold as condensation shows more on cast iron.

Re: Dial test indicator

I agree with you buying second hand, it’s a chance you take. Just buy carefully. Genuine good sellers, are they still in original box etc.

Re: Dial test indicator

From experience I’d look at a second hand one of either Mitutoyo, Starrett, M&W or Baty manufacture for smooth operation and precision. Plenty on flea bay etc.

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club

I’ve always been keen on finding the best all round and cheapest insurance and from experience over the last few years the JEC scheme in association with Peter Best Insurance has been just that, in so much that all our family vehicles are insured with them, so it suits my needs but maybe not others....

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club

I’ve been a member of the E-type club and the JEC for a number of years and totally agree with past comments that the E-type club is expensive for what it is and very expensive tours focused, so much so that I am seriously considering not renewing membership. As for the JEC I feel it’s of benefit be...

Re: Lazy Starting

I find the ambient air temperature has a lot to do with starting if the car has stood for a period of time in the garage in winter months. I firstly place a small fan heater on the top of the tyre which is directed towards the carbs and manifold and once it’s warm makes starting much easier. Out of ...

It’s not a very professional way to conduct business the way this company has dealt with you, but, I would speak with them and come to an agreed settlement maybe 50/50. Do you or would you use this company again?

Re: Disappointed in parts quality

I think you have summed up the comments very well Steve. We are very fortunate to have a supplier such as SNGB who do take note of customers feedback and stock enormous amount of parts for our beloved E-Types.
