Re: Difficulty refitting carburettors

Yes they are a bit of a tease to fit especially the nuts at the rear underneath . Plenty of scratched hands usually. I do not think there is an easy way.

Change metal floats for new plastic ones as the brass ones tend to leak.

Re: Cylinder rust

I am building a 4.2 MK1 for someone who had his engine rebuilt about 10 years ago and when we first ran the engine we found low compression on 3 cylinders. He had not turned it over or introduced oil into the cylinders for all of that time. I had to have 3 liners replaced and new rings. It was cheap...

Seat not square s11 4.27

Hi we have just fired both seats but the passenger side seat is not square. The car has had a lot of welding with new panels. They all look correct. The only way we can see to fix it is making new mounting holes which I do not likely want to do. Obviously the two that go through the chasosis will ha...

Re: Bonnet adjustment

Yes finally finished the bonnet fitting. Locks down and gaps near perfect but what a job . taking spacers out or replacing with different sizes.
Just a question at the front there is a thick spacer ( about 5mm) in the position to lift the bonnet on both sides ,is this normal ?

Re: Bonnet adjustment

No tried all that. We can get it to lock down but we have to lean on the bonnet above the latch.
It is a brand new bonnet and all new front frame.

Difficult bonnet (hood) alignment.

We have just got round to adjusting the bonnet alignment.S1 4.2 RHD This is a new bonnet and all new frames. To get a good gap to the back we have removed all the shims ( 1x 1mm 3 thinner) on the offside but even when we have removed all spacers on the nearside the bonnet is still not coming back fa...

Re: seat mounting problem

Well finally fitted seats. For some reason they would only fit a certain side. Also when the runners were fitted you could see that they were not parallel with each other and we had to fit washers to level the up on both.

But thanks anyway.
