Re: Auto trans rear engine mount

Hi all, Sorry to resurrect a topic that most people probably thought was done and dusted, but I still don't quite follow the postings on this and other threads about the auto gearbox mounting. I agree with the series of pictures posted by Bob, but these and others I have seen completely miss out par...

Re: How does the JD40 cam sprocket tool work?

Thanks MarekH. That seems to explain it then. You'd think they would have made the tool so that you could hang it on the bracket! I don't know why they didn't design it that way!

How does the JD40 cam sprocket tool work?

Hi all. Looking for some advice on my V12 engine. I have it out at the moment while the gearbox is fixed and although the engine runs well there has always been a bit of a tap which sounds like it comes from the top end. While it is out I have checked the valve clearances and if anything they are a ...

Re: Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal

I know this is an old thread, but just thought I’d mention what we managed to do with my car which had a bad oil leak from the rear crankshaft rope seal. A specialist managed to take the sump off with the engine still in the car, remove the lower seal housing, cut out the bottom half of the rope sea...

Re: Smell in cockpit of S3 OTS

Hi. I know this thread is now 2 years old, but did you ever find the source of your fuel smell? A friend of mine had petrol fumes on his OTS and it was traced to one of the 4 pipes from the fuel tank to the expansion tank in the LH wing. They are only visible and accessible by getting the main fuel ...

Re: Strong smell of petrol

A friend of mine had a strong smell of petrol from the boot. All the visible pipes and connections were fine. Fuel tank out revealed 4 pipes between the petrol tank and expansion tank in the LH rear wing (only accessible with the main tank out) and at least one was rotten. I know you posted a year a...

Re: Recommendations for a V12 specialist near Northants/Cambs/Beds

Hi Ole, Thanks for the advice. I have checked and replaced a few basic things and even bought a compression tester as I have a receipt (from quite a long time ago) that says something about the number 6 cylinder on "A" bank having a much lower compression than all the other cylinders. I don't have a...

Thanks guys. Got some good info from Angus Moss today and will try David Marks and The Splined Hub tomorrow. The Slindon Hub is particularly close by, so that could be very useful.

Recommendations for a V12 specialist near Northants/Cambs/Beds

Hi everyone. Always wanted an E-type and have finally (40 years later!) acquired a Series 3 roadster. I am hoping it will only require a bit of TLC, but am quite aware that it could cost a lot of money, time and effort! First however is to try and get the engine running as it should. It is a US impo...
