Re: Koni Shocks

Koni's were designed and manufactured in the Netherlands in the early 1950's to cope with the broken up roads of war torn Europe. The 'adjustable' compoonent was indeed to increase lognevity by allowing owners to stiffen up the shocks as they quickly wore. In the 1960's with motor sport gaining in p...

You could try Barr's Leaks - the Factory put two bottles in each car on the production line.

Re: Ser 1 tool roll @ jack bag

Worth noting that Great Britain used imperial measurements during the time of E-Type production and as you will see from Bud's measurements they are nice whole number of inches or simple fractions to make production easy. If you are going to use the measurements provided in the photos you should con...

Christopher Here is an example chapter: 9. Suspension & Steering: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ljcpqxaz50b5n82/09%20Suspension%2C%20Steering%20%26%20Road%20Wheels.pdf?dl=1 As you can see it was produced on a typewriter with no illustrations. Obviously the S2 cars share a lot of parts with its older sis...

Re: Jaguar ser 11 book

best book by far is this one: http://xkebooks.com/ The factory parts manual is not illustrated, just a list of parts whereas the after market one above has 450 pages of drawings and lists. It also comes on as CD ROM. Not cheap but the gold standard. SNGB web site has some excellent exploded drawings...

Re: Add Image button gone?

Typo! - you missed out the 'UK' in those addresses 'forum.etypeuk.com' Nothing changed on this side to cause postimage logo to go away. I rarely use it as I find IMGUR a lot easier to use and to manage photos. It is free to sign up. If it is spreading across several devices it could be your Google a...

Re: The Last E Type Built?

They are not building S3 continuations so I suppose HDU 555N can be regarded as the last. Also the continuation cars are not road legal.

Re: Wheel spinner quality.

I do, because I asked Orson Engineering why they got them so wrong in terms of machining, shape, weight and markings. Their answer "We have been making them this way for 30 years and no one else has complained". DO NOT BUY after market spinners from any vendor. Good originals can be found and engrav...

Instrument panel change:

There is no evidence to suggest the Factory used the E-Type script or 3.8 model designation on the boot or hatch of the 3.8 cars..

The S1 have sloped buckets to clear the front whels. The S2 has deep curved buckets as clearance is not a problem.

Re: LED headlights

Layne You will not need relay's for the LED bulbs. The voltage drop without the relay's is 11.88v from the alternator rated 13.4v so no need to worry about getting low voltage LED's - if the battery voltage dropped to 7.5v the car would not even run! The measurement from the reflector edge to the ti...

Very difficult to find any LED headlamps (or bulbs) that will fit into the S1 sloped buckets. They are also illegal in the UK: https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/blog/are-led-headlights-legal-in-the-uk/ "Please note that since January 2021, the MOT Inspection manual has been updated to include LED bu...
