Re: Jaguar World - January 2022

I'd not heard of "Readly" so checked it out and if you are a bit of a reader, that's an amazing deal. In the UK its £9.99 per month and they do have Jaguar World as a download. Plus a huge number of other publications including newspapers. If you just want to read JW then they have their own downloa...

Jaguar World - January 2022

Its freezing in the garage these days, the roads are icy and covered in mud or salt plus it gets dark in the Midlands around 4pm. So get down to WH Smiths and order the latest (January) edition of Jaguar World. Its a cracking read and has a really great article about our Series 1. https://i.postimg....

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

I will be putting the insulation back and replacing any that got damaged with new. I drove our S1 with a 31 deg C (87 deg F) in our limited but hot summer and the heat that was coming up via the hand brake opening was considerable. I think the gearbox oil is far better at coping with temperature tha...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Hi GTJoey, Nice to hear from you and keep that blog up! You know, I had to check what a throw out bearing was! So you mean a clutch release bearing. Well no need for retention clips as I've got this little widget instead. https://i.postimg.cc/4dccdpLf/First-motion-shaft.jpg I'm not sure its worth th...

Re: Lightweight flywheel for S3 auto conversion

That's a really good idea to put in a remote bleeder. Should be straight forward enough to make up the parts.

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

Just started reading your mini blog. It's bringing back memories of a lot of the same issues I had. I changed my Series 1 for a Tremec 5 speed earlier in the year and I'm doing my Series 3 auto to Tremec 5 speed in the winter months. I went for the 5th gear with 1:0.63 for the S3 for fuel savings/en...

Re: Lightweight flywheel for S3 auto conversion

Hi Bill I do need to test the slave cylinder before I put it on the car, that’s kind of the downside with the concentric type, if it fails it’s an engine out job. https://i.postimg.cc/fbF0wScL/28-EA6312-96-B4-4-EBE-BE68-1297-D6-A9-B214.jpg Interesting of that bleed nipple, how do you get to it? The...

Hi Bill

I took the slave cylinder off, and this is what it looks like.
There is a number on the shaft T0120 15
What do you recon?

Re: Lightweight flywheel for S3 auto conversion

Hi Bill The first motion shaft has this concentric clutch slave cylinder on it. So without taking it off, you can’t see if there is a weld. I do need to test the slave cylinder before I put it on the car, that’s kind of the downside with the concentric type, if it fails it’s an engine out job. https...

Re: Auto to manual pedal box conversion

Hi Simon Thanks for sharing that experience. Unless I can get hold of the manual brake peddle drawing or actual peddle, I’ll build the pedal box and see how it looks. Sounds about he only way to go about it. Nice point to move them from left to right by adjusting the spacers as that east with even m...

Re: Auto to manual pedal box conversion

Hi Marek
Thanks for the response. I’ll build the pedal box and see how close to optimum they are and then do a bit of tinkering as necessary.

I’ll follow up with a picture when done. Hopefully will end up like this.

Auto to manual pedal box conversion

I'm preparing to convert my auto V12 back to a manual. Can you modify the (auto) brake pedal to manual? Does anybody know what the difference is between C34989 auto brake pedal and C25291 manual brake pedal? Changing the rubber and pedal plate will be the easy bit, but is the auto brake pedal going ...

Re: Lightweight flywheel for S3 auto conversion

Hi Bill Yes the first motion shaft is the same, so that S1 clutch disk also fits on it fine. Just the wrong diameter. I’m waiting to hear back from the supplier, hopefully a big apology and replacement parts. I measured the clutch disk and the flywheel and determined that they didn’t need to grind d...

Hey, I must be doing great, almost at geek level. I managed to create my own avatar and stuff it in my profile rather than take one of the stock images. Not bad eh? BTW, for full equality of nations, don't we need a smilies with the Welsh Flag on it! Asking for a friend! I tried :wales: but it doesn...
