I painted mine initially but it wasn't as good as I wanted. I then found a local powder coater who did a fantastic job and I am much more pleased with it and it is much stronger than paint - where it is located just means it gets things put on it etc If you are local to Newbury I can pass on details...

Hi all, does anyone had a S2 Heater Air Intake box lying around they can take some photos' of ? Its the one on the bonnet. Where the fixing screws go on mine it has perished and I need to rebuild with fiberglass. Does the lip go around 3 sides ? how far in from the edge and what size are the fixing ...

Just an update here ! Welcome to the world of slight modifications per model ! So the cam covers I had are probably due to a new head from a XJ6. The original E-type ones are the same fit - but have a semi-circular cut out for the rev counter take-off I believe. There are two plates you can get - bu...

To add more - the LHS is 3cm diameter whereas the RHS on the Cam cover is 4cm - so it looks like C39195 would be OK for the left but not the right. Any ideas on an equivalent. Obviously the blanking plate wont work as head is 3cm and cover is 4cm !

Cam covers - instant gasket

Hi, had real problems with cam cover gaskets slipping out when tighening the nuts. Anyone used or have a recommendation for/against just using instant gasket and doing away with the paper ones on the cam covers ? Also I just acquired some really nice new cam covers - seems I have a later head on min...

Hi, I know it is not quite south wales but the guy I use is excellent. he is century classics (google it) based in Lambourne near Newbury. He hasn't welded mine - although he always has at least 2 E-types on the go and many other classics - he is pretty booked all the time and hard to pin down on da...

wipers and washers electrical conumdrum

Hi, a friend has just purchased a 1969 S2 2+2. It has been standing a couple of years - but flew through an MOT. Then the next day no lights and other electrics such as rev counter etc. I had a similar problem with the lights myself and removing and cleaning the fuse on the dash solved the problem -...

What cam covers ?

Hi, I have a 1970 S2 FHC and it looks like I have replacement Cam covers. The ones I have seen on other S2 have "Jaguar" embossed on them (mine doesn't) but I think there are variations. Does anyone have definitive pictures of what should be there ? Also anyone have any for sale - either S2 or early...

engine numbers

So I am researching the history of my S2 1970 and coming up with lots of things. It has had triumph (I think they are anyway) rear lights with built in reversing lamps - but no owner remembers this !. It was resprayed (Sable originally) to Red and an interior change (beige) to Black. I think I know ...

Thanks I saw this but it doesn't tell me which relay does what - specifically the one on the inner wing opposite the exhaust manifold but also useful to know what the other one by the batteery is for.
I guess horn relays and alternator but which is which ?
Thanks

headlmap relay

So, I think I am pretty certain now that there is no relay in the headlamp circuit of my series 2. I've read lots of books, manuals and so on but still keep finding contradictions. I had intermittent dipped headlamps - the switch seemed fine, full beam worked. I had a real good dig around and the 35...

alternative headrest

HI - someone told me once that you can fit headrests from - I believe Triumphs (Spitfires ?) Acclaims? and perhaps it wasn't either. I also believe early XJS's fit? Does anyone have a definitive list ? These are going on a S2 1970 I've heard you might need to shorten the shaft - I'm fine with that. ...

Rear light cluster removal - help

Hi all - I've removed my rear bumpers for chroming over winter and decided to clean up the rear light clusters - I have them all loose but need to remove the 3 wires from the bulb holders but it isn't obvious and I don't want to break anything - how to get the wires free advice needed please ! Can't...
