Re: Valve seat insert hack !
Originally when the engine came back from the shop (sent for a 5K rebuild) it had really poor compression in a couple of the cylinders. It was sent back to the shop and we eventually found out it had been subcontracted to some else so it was a little messy trying to get it resolved. I'm sure it's no...
Re: Hello
Hi Stuart Good to meet you. It seems like there are a fair few members nearby which is really helpful. So far I love how easy it is to work on the car. It reminds me of my old mk 2 spitfire / so much access when the bonnet is off. My head is currently in about three different service manuals and I'm...
Re: Hello
I'll keep my eyes peeled when I get the car back on the road and try to head to a local meet up. It's an ideal location with the peak and wales on the doorstep, one of my favourite loops is the Mac /Cat and fiddle run. Hello Paul Welcome. This area is getting to be an E Type hotspot - Church Lawton,...

Re: Valve seat insert hack !
Thanks Steve.
I googled the "hold down kit" and found your older posts / others so will take your advice and leave, just wish they were a bit less brutal :-)

Re: Valve seat insert hack !
Cheers for the reply.
I'm a bit anal so will probably get it sorted just so I can forget about it, is the common practice to machine and then fit oversized seats to make sure there's no movement?

Valve seat insert hack !
I'm slowly unpicking my fathers old restoration and was about to set the valve clearances and found two opposed screws on each valve seat insert? IMG_1983.jpg IMG_1985.jpg I'm new to the XK engine but it feels like it's a hack from the company who "restored" the engine and rather than fitting the va...

I'm based in the North West near Nantwich and have just inherited my fathers 2+2 LHD E-Type (1969) He originally imported it around 30 years ago from the US but due to work i...
