Hi everyone
I contacted SNG NL to get the upgraded ball joint with the intention to get my wishbone machined to accept it. It’s apparently not available from them. They can supply the full upgraded wishbone only.
Any idea if it is available somewhere else?
Thanks!
Alban

Re: Will A XJ6 S1 inlet manifold fit?
I primarily wanted a cleaner look and get rid off the complicated US spec inlet manifold. I'm told that the SU have better airflow caracteristics so I'm hoping to get good drivability. Must say that with the couple of runs I have done so far, I'm not disappointed. Finally I have better tuning knowle...

Re: Will A XJ6 S1 inlet manifold fit?
I finally managed to get the bonnet back on the car. I can now confirm that the front carb does foul the bonnet when closed. just some clearance is missing, probably 7-8mm only
I'll refit the original US spec inlet manifold and modify it to bypass the secondary plenum.

I decided to use the foam backed fabric for every pieces of the headlining kit. It's a recaro product I could buy through a friend of mine who's into furniture upholstery. I was impress by the quality, the ease of handling and the strength. Really hard to damage. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...

Most of the job is now complete. I decided to keep the original hard foam board in the car. Honestly I didn't figure out how to remove it without breaking into pieces... I brushed it and vacuumed it. There were a few damages (dents and depressions)to it but though that with the foam backed fabric I ...

Thank you, it clearly helped me understand what I have in the car. I have been looking carefully but can't see how I could remove the board without breaking into pieces as goes well under the steel lip all around the roof. So I'll keeping the board in place and glue the new headlining onto it. I'll ...

Advice before headlining replacement
I'm about to replace the headlining of my S2 of Feb 1970 and would seek one confirmation... The brushed nylon cloth came out very easily. According to what I could find around the forum and the web, brushed nylon was used from 1971 onwards. Is it correct? The foam backing is still in place and in on...

I faced a similar issue. Ordered a hose kit from Robey and got a straight hose for this manifold to heater connection. I solved the problem by inserting a spring inside the hose. Luckily I had one at home of the same diameter as the hose ID. The spring allows the hose to gently bend without crushing...

Will A XJ6 S1 inlet manifold fit?
I'm in the process of replacing the US spec series 2 intake (with Strombergs)?to twin SU's from a XJ6 S1 I'd like to get rid off the original primary and secondary intake manifolds and fit the XJ single manifold. The SU tops are now about 2cm higher than the Stromberg. I'm not yet near fitting the b...

I finally managed to get a replacement seal and sump gaskets from SNG after battling with their customer service. I went for a regular but late model seal with the hard plastic ring on the front side of the seal. After installation and proper tightening of the sump, it looks in order. Will have to w...

There was a very complete article on this conversion a months ago in the e-type club magazine.
This is an essential upgrade in my view. I have a similar car than yours and I'm switching to a European XJ S1 setup for now. While rebuilding my engine, I'm making provision for an EDIS+mega jolt upgrade.

Hi Pete, Thanks for the reassuring comment. You mentioned the sump gasket. The Payen one is relatively thick compared to the one that was on the engine before. That might be adding or even creating the issue. Since I have ruined the Payen one as I had to reopen the sump and timing cover as I forgot ...

Crankshaft front seal off center
Hi All, I'm currently restoring my 1970 S2 2+2 and I'm stuck with what seems to be a big problem. When installing the timing cover with a new seal from a Payen gasket set, i noticed that the seal is not centered on the distance piece. There is a visible gap between the seal and the piece at the botto...

Sounds like I have been assigned a challenge here! :D I was humbly asking whether the SU would physically fit the inlet manifold (bare the secondary) fitted on US engines. Sounds like there is there a possibility with some rework on the manifold that I'm prepared to do. I'm keen on trying to measure...

SU carbs on Stromberg manifold?
Hello,
I intend to upgrade my USA spec 4.2L engine with 2" HS8 SU to replace the original CD175 Stromberg. I'd like to get rid off the secondary throttle housing meant for emission control. Will i be able to reuse my current primary inlet manifold and fit the HS8 to it?
Thanks
