Re: Sudden total brake loss
Might be worth checking your brake lines to the brake fluid reservoir are not pinched. I had complete brake failure on the Dartford bridge after 50 miles of motorway travel. One of the brake lines had a bit of a kink in it causing the fluid to boil. Quickly unkinked and all back to normal.

Re: Anyone tried Valvoline SAE30 in a Moss box?
Thanks for your thoughts. MTL seems to have a reputation for a slightly improved gear change at the expense of being a bit more prone to leaks. The leaks i get are very minor so i could just carry on using MTL. Ideally I’d like better gear changes and no leaks

Anyone tried Valvoline SAE30 in a Moss box?
Like a lot of people i use Valvoline VR1 20/50 in the engine. I wondered if anyone had tried using Valvoline SAE30 non- detergent in a Moss box as I'll shortly be doing a gearbox oil change. Currently I’ve got Redline MTL in there but it does leak slightly 🤔 https://i.postimg.cc/VkY4Lr2N/IMG-7512.jpg

Looks like you’ve managed to find a great original example, which rolled out the factory a couple of weeks after mine. I also had a CLJ reg but that was on a Vauxhall Viva

When I bought from SNGB they were happy to get one from the store and measure it for me

Re: Daytime lights in Europe
Surely you’re not required to retro fit daytime running lights in Europe to pre 2011 cars
so yes you can modify your car so they come on at start up, but the age old method of the driver judging what lights are required for the conditions apply to older cars, don’t they ???

Re: That Torsion Bar Question Again?
SNGB sell 3 different ratings of torsion bar for the S1. 0.765, 0.860 and 0.835. Presumably 0.765 is standard and the other 2 are uprated

Re: 1962 Red E Type 72 EXB...Where are you?!
There’s a pic of the car in Kent in Apr 2008 as ots, and xkedata shows it as a fhc in 1977, so the top came off sometime between those dates

Re: Found on a Facebook group......
I know this seller, a very sharp chappie. He sold my Facel Vega HK500 for me, gave me a price but did not detail the commission which should have been a percentage (5 - 10%) so I had no idea what he actually sold it for. No invoice - nothing, so I was not happy but not willing to pursue the matter,...

Totally agree with UK Muppet, I wouldn’t spec it on a new car.

Re: Ceramic brake pads
For a road car I’d avoid ceramic pads, you may find them a bit less stoppy until you get some heat into them

Re: A’66 OTS sells for a huge price at Monterey
It does seem so. The % of cars selling is low, 1 in 4 at one auction I was watching, and always below estimate. The hierarchy of values (flat floor ots to series 3 fhc; uk original v import) is much more compressed than it was in the boom days. A good usable uk original series 1 fhc 4.2 recently wen...

Re: Boomy exhaust
Just to clarify, i have standard cast manifolds with the stainless downpipes connecting them to the Jaguar Classic silencer. All parts have standard fittings to connect to the car. I agree that my problem probably lies with the stainless parts but having just checked, Jaguar Classic are out of stock...

Boomy exhaust
Hi all, my exhaust is very boomy at certain speeds and i’d like to reduce the noise a bit ( must be getting old  ). The exhaust is a bit of a parts mix: Nearly new stainless steel downpipes. New Jaguar Classic mild steel silencer Nearly new stainless steel connecting pipes Old standard resonato...

I managed to get the cable out the hole with some garden wire, and fitted a new courtesy switch, but the light stays on all the time so I haven’t resolved my problem yet
My endoscope camera is a Depstech - from Amazon - there’s an app for viewing the image on ipads etc.

Thanks John I've invested in one of those essential tools
and Richard a camera is a good plan, unfortunately mine broke a couple of months ago so I’ll order up another
and try further exploration with some bent wire in the meantime
