Re: Thermostat

The only changes I can find at the time the rad cap was increased from 4 to 9 lbs in 1963 are a new (non convoluted) top hose and a small change in the position of the top hose fitment to the header tank. As mine is a late 3.8 it would originally have come with a 9lb cap and in any case I have a lar...

Re: Thermostat

That’s what I think Steve, with no gap between the sleeve and the face it would be more like 11mm. I’ll give SNGB a ring tomorrow and see what they say 👍

Thermostat

Hi all, i’m going to be changing a core plug soon and as I've never checked to see what thermostat i have in the car, thought I’d buy a new one and replace that at the same time. Another reason for replacing is that my temp gauge shows a slightly low reading 50degs most of the time, although in hot ...

Re: I'm not sure if these are sold in the UK....

I have the Radtec Marston rad with Coolcat fan - arrived quickly from the states. Radtec rad is big and needs careful positioning to ensure it’s perfectly central and doesn’t kiss the bonnet. A good combo 👍

Re: Series 1 Values

It doesn’t seem to be a good time to sell e types, and many do not reach estimate/reserve at auction at the moment and remain unsold. You see good series 1 cars with estimates of 80-90k that struggle to get bids of 60-70k. But then the prices are falling on most cars especially prestige where you se...

Re: Trying to track down 1969 E type series ll 2 + 2 coupe

You could try speaking to Historics who may have information on why it was withdrawn from the Nov13 auction and, as far as I can tell, not resubmitted to the Mar14 auction as planned. Maybe continuing legal issues if it’s the car Malcolm is referring to. Last change in v5 was Mar16 which could relat...

STE Carb Syncronometer - BK or SK?

I’m thinking of getting one of these to check the accuracy of the ears and hose pipe previously used. They do 2 versions BK and SK. Anyone know which is best for normal triple SUs? And whether any adapter is needed? :scratchheadyellow:

Re: Track rod ends despair.

Not sure this will help much but last year (2022) I fitted the Girling front dampers and track rod ends from SNGB and everything went together fine. I do recall speaking to someone at SNGB when ordering the Girlings for the rear asking for measurements as the big issue I had at the time was getting ...

Re: Smart chargers

I’ve got 3 cars on 3 different makes of trickle charger at the mo, they all work fine. The E type is on a Ctek 5.0 that I bought 2 years ago and works perfectly. About £80 on Amazon, £65 on ebay. Might be some deals on Black Friday if you can wait 🤔
