Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

Hi Guys Marek - thanks for the drawing. Not quite sure I understand it as there are no measurements. Are you suggesting that the distance from the carbon face to the centre of the thrust arm hole should be approx twice the distance as the distance shown on the diaphram drawing. just to let you know ...

Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

Thanks Andrew.
The swarf I think is from them cutting a bit out of the housing to give the thrust arm more space to move.

Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

Thanks again guys for all your input. They've dismantled the whole thing again - just wanted to know from those out there that may know - do these pictures look normal for a 66 S1 box and bellhousing? Help will be much appreciated. Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

Hi R
Thanks for that. I guess you tried to bend a cast and it broke? How can you tell if it's forged or cast?

Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

Hi Steve. Thanks so much for reaching out. Basically, when I went there a week ago they'd put everything back together but told me the clutch wasn't working. They as yet haven't offered an explanation so no, it's not been driven but they kind of inferred on the phone that it wasn't their fault. The ...

New clutch and thrust bearing

Hi All, Hope someone can help. My S1 has just had my old spring clutch replaced by a diaphram type. The reason was that the thrust bearing was worn out and was hitting the housing so had no distance left to travel. Unfortunately it's made no difference and the thrust bearing arm is still against the...

Brake Fluid

Hi All, just wondering if any of you lovely people can help? I have an odd problem. I keep getting a leak from the passenger side brake fluid bottle on my 1966 S1. What happens is that the fluid from the driver's side seems to travel to the passenger side botte after a few drives. So the driver's si...

Re: Boot Latch

Hi - I've found the problem as to why my S1 DHC boot latch wasn't working. If you are slamming down the lid and its's not latching try this. Don't undo anything just look inside the latch from the top. If you look to the extreme left and right you should see two loop ends of the spring sitting on pl...

Rear Brake rebuild

Hi All, this Forum has been helpful to me over the past year so wanted to post something to help others. My series 1 OTS is a 1966 model and I found I had to start pumping the brakes. Fitted a new master cylinder as the fluid was full of air and couldn't get rid of it. Soon after, the rear callipers...

Re: Difficult to get into reverse

Hi Bill Read your post with interest - thanks. I have a 1966 S1 OTS and I'm getting the crunch of teeth when putting it in reverse. Sometimes when I wait a few seconds it goes in but it seems to be getting worse. Engaging the clutch before trying doesn't seem to help much. I'm worried - doe sit mean...

Series 1 rear brake callipers

Hi All. I've fitted a new master cylinder and it's caused my rear brake calliper seals to fail. I've had quotes to fix it which are ridiculous so I've decided to lower the rear IRS myself. Some advice please - I have new seals but with all the effort I guess it's best to be safe than sorry, so shoul...

Re: Boot Latch

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply. The boot lid wouldn't stay shut, just happened a couple of weeks go. I started playing with the latch that is supposed to catch the male part from the boot lid. Sometimes it latches (i.e. locks in place when I push it down) but now I can't get it to catch at all. I pus...

Boot Latch

Hi All
Does anyone know of or have a drawing of how the series 1 boot latch works on a DHC? My boot won't latch now and is open all the time. For the life of me I can't see what the little bar on the boot lid latches to?
Many thanks as always chaps.

Ray, talk to Speedograph Richfield, they can overhaul, recalibrate and do lots of things for Rev counters and speedos. Not sure about the clock part, but worth asking. Talk to Mike Eck at https://www.jaguarclock.com/ about the clock.

Geoff

Hi G

Rev Counter and Speedo

Hi All, I need to replace my 1966 series one Kmph speedo with an Mph. This was because the car was restored in Sweden. Does anyone have any advice on where I might be able to PX mine for an MPH one? Also, the clock on my rev counter isn't working, anyone know of a specialist in this who I might be a...
