Well found my problem. There should be a second pulley on the crankshaft that only drives the power steering pump. Can anyone tell me the rough diameters of the pulleys on the crank that drives the power steering pump? The part number for the secondary pulley on the crank would be really useful and ...

Power steering

Can anyone help please Just rebuilt the front end of my engine after a full car nut and bolt rebuild. The pulley of the power steering pump doesn't line up with anything. The nearest is the alternator drive which I have used but drive is noisy above 3000 rpm. Power steering pump needs a 13mm belt so...

Just fitted the overdrive gearbox with its bell housing and new high torque starter motor without any spacer plate. The motor will not engage as it appears the overdrive box was off a 2.8 XJ6 ( it has no dowels on the plate behind the starter motor). I am told bell housings are different and I need ...

Thanks for this information

Catalogues show BD18947 as the rubber for the front bumper on Series 2 and BD35977 for the rear

The rear seal on the series 2 goes in in 1 piece. Can the same approach of super glue be used?

Thanks

Rear Bumper Rubber

Well I have bought a new seal for the bumper on my Series 2 from SNG. The bumper is off the car and has been profiled before being re-chromed. I have now spent 8 hours trying to fit it. Advise on best technique please as I can't get it to fit between the bumper and the body and it keeps coming out. ...

Thank you for the information. I did not think about using Series 1 bowls on my series 2. I talked to most of the suppliers and they supply a standard bowl with a replacement clip to let the chrome headlamp ring attach. Worked fine but at the bottom of the light and couldn't remove the ring when ins...

Headlamp bowls. Series 2 and 3

Well I bought 2 new bowls , fitted the headlamps and fitted them to the mounting points in the sugar scoops. Couldn't get to the screw at the bottom to fix the chrome surround and found out they should have a clip instead of the screw hole on the bowl so the chrome ring just clips on. Bought 2 and f...

Thanks for suggestions

I like the idea of machining the tail away and soldering pipe in

Don't really want to go plastic

Has anyone modified any series 3 bits to overcome the problem

Thanks

It is not an auto

Am I correct in thinking you buy the non 2+2 downpipes, 2+2 silencers and then get a piece of stainless to bridge the two

Any good supplier in UK for the bridging piece

2+2 exhaust system

Rebuilding my 2+2 4.2
I am keeping the original exhaust manifolds but don't want the down pipes siamesed and them separated into the silencers

Has anyone found a suitable system that runs separate pipes the length of the vehicle off standard manifolds

Thanks

123 ht leads

I have a 123 ignition system with silicone HT leads and a sports coil. I read that I need a lead separator to prevent cross over in the cardboard tube. Is this really needed as surely the 123 only gives more accurate spark timing not greater voltage which is generated by the coil. Advice and experie...

Many thanks for this information

The workshop manual clearly on refers to the roadster which does not apply

Have now removed glass as suggested

To release the winder I also undid the 4 bolts holding the winder in the centre of the door

Now back to stripping car and finding rust!

Thanks once again
