Hi Bill,
You may be right about air scoop but I haven’t checked it again yet.
It’s probably been damaged and repaired at some point it the past.
Cheers,
Marcus

Re: Chrome trim air scoop
Thanks for the replies Bill and Mike.
Here is a photo of the corner of my air scoop, with the radius I’m dealing with.
I might try the hot water method and see how it goes.

Chrome trim air scoop
Hi all,
Does anyone have any suggestions for fitting the chrome trim that fits around the air scoop below the radiator?
I’ve got a replacement from SNG Barrett, just finding it tricky to fit, especially where the trim is angled at the bottom corners.
Cheers, Marcus

Re: New Member
Thanks for your insights Jeremy.
I was also a fan of the DB5 as a kid thanks to Corgi, but I’m glad I got the E-Type as they are a nicer drive.
Couldn’t afford a DB5 anyway, I think they are bit of a cliche now, for wannabe Bonds.

Re: New Member
Hi Steve I have a feeling it ended up in Australia so might have been re-registered over there. Funny I sold the E Type and bought a DB5 but much preferred the E. Mind you I would have liked money the Aston would have made today. Sold mine for £3k  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the diffe...

Re: Hello from Brisbane
Hi Geoff,
I bought it in New Zealand recently and have now imported it into Australia.
It has been restored previously and even has the original literature pack, jack, toolkit etc.
Cheers, Marcus

Re: Inertia Reel Seatbelts 2+2
Thanks for the photo, looks like there is plenty of space with the reel facing outward. May need a bracket though to make it fit.

Re: Inertia Reel Seatbelts 2+2
Thanks all for your replies, it looks like I will definitely need inertia reel belts for the front. I can see slots in the trim moulding next to the B pillar which look like they are for inertia reel belts to fit in with the reel down low. I have found a supplier with belts that require 75mm of spac...

Inertia Reel Seatbelts 2+2
Hi all, I’ve imported a 1972 2+2 from New Zealand into Queensland, Australia. I’ve been told it needs to have inertia reel seatbelts to be compliant. It currently has static belts. I’d be interested to know what type of belts were originally fitted to ‘72 2+2’s in Australia, please let me know what ...

Re: Front Subframe Possible Issue
Thanks all for your advice. I’ve decided to pass on this car because of too many concerns about the quality of the restoration work on it.

Re: Front Subframe Possible Issue
I’ve looked at quite a few 2+2’s and most appeared either tired or bodged.
People don’t seem to want to spend big money restoring them as they aren’t worth as much as OTS’s or FHC’s.

Re: Front Subframe Possible Issue
I’m in Brisbane and the car is in Atherton. It is a Series 1.5 2+2 and has twin mufflers, see pic. Hello all, I’ve put a deposit on an E-Type Where in Australia are you? A pair of Martin Robey engine frames from SNG Barratt are around $3k each plus they're quoting over $1k for freight. So $7k. Repla...

Re: Front Subframe Possible Issue
Thank-you all for the responses, sounds like it is a serious issue. The car is a long journey away so not possible for me to go there again to do a further assessment of the front sub-frames. I will speak to the owner as he knows a Jag specialist close to him and suggest that he gets the car on a ho...

Front Subframe Possible Issue
Hello all, I’ve put a deposit on an E-Type, but looking at the photos I took while inspecting the underside saw something that may be a crack hiding in the right-side lower engine frame tube. Any thoughts on what I could be dealing with here? The car has been restored in 2017, presents really well a...
