Re: S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
Certainly an idea worth thinking about, but in my case the tacho registers idle happily enough and seems to increase with throttle until it gets stuck / pauses at about 1200-1500 revs; then it frees itself and rises / falls with throttle as expected. It doesn't seem to get stuck in a similar way whe...

Re: S3 Clock Wiring
Sorted. Problem was indeed fuse / fuse holder related and clock wiring us now as per diagram. I've also sorted out the map light wiring while I was at it. Thanks.

Re: S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
Thought I'd update, even if it did seem to be a relatively simple circuit/ground issue. I've improved the case ground by taking it direct to the chassis, and this has improved things markedly - while cruising the needle stays rock solid and is indeed relative to road speed and no longer fluctuates. ...

Re: S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
Thanks Marek - I thought I had read here that the tacho only relied on the 2 wires heading into it and not on a ground. I have certainly improved the latter greatly so that will hopefully fix the trick.

Re: S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
So, guage lights seem to be sorted (though still fault finding the Map Light and Interior Light, which for some reason are proving extra difficult ) so now focussing on Tacho. Wiring diagram (S3) shows this as having a ground but presumably only for the bulb circuit and nothing to do with the tacho ...

Re: S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
Thanks - just checking there is not a dedicated ground anywhere on the instrument itself. Looking at the ground wire the PO used it would seem a issue he was trying to deal with previously. Will have to try and "upgrade" that.

Pretty sure it's the trip reset. Only turn it anticlockwise!

S3 Tacho / Rev Counter Ground
I'm still deep in behind the dash sorting out wiring. All guage lights work (if relatively poorly though they do visibly work in Dim and Full modes) with the Dash Light Switch on plus sidelights etc - but not the 2 in the rev counter. However even these 2 do work if removed from the instrument and p...

Re: S3 Clock Wiring
Thanks, Craig - have had a look at your channel. I think some extra time needed with a multimeter in and around the interior light switch and fuse 3! You have encouraged me to get into it.

S3 Clock Wiring
Have had the clock refurbished and I have reinstalled. Wiring diagram says power comes from purple wire from Fuse 3 via interior light switch, however although I do have a "spare" purple wire from that switch it does not provide power. I found (!) an additional purple wire coming from the lights swi...

Engine block drain plug
Anyone able to provide specifics on where I find the drain plug on the block? Repair Operation Manual does not mention it as far as I can see, and I'd like to do as good a flush of the block after draining coolant as I can. I did see a post on here that mentioned it being near the bottom of the oil ...

Re: S3 Antifreeze available Belgium?
Have purchased Kroon Organic NF -38 coolant (G12+) which is orange/yellow and is recommended by Kroon on their website for the EType V12. Data sheet says pure MEG plus anti corrosion additives / silicate free. As I stated above I will do as good a flush of the old green coolant as I can.

Re: S3 Antifreeze available Belgium?
Bedankt! Thanks so much for that - you have cut through all the possible products and it's easy enough to order from Autodoc. Last replacement of antifreeze was by a (reputable) Jaguar workshop who used generic "green" antifreeze. I will flush fully anyway before refilling - hopefully no nasty surpr...

S3 Antifreeze available Belgium?
Many, many posts here on recommended antifreeze for S3 engine. Consensus seems to be Bluecol: however seems very difficult to obtain here in Belgium without paying huge p&p costs to buy it from Tetrosyl in IRL. Anyone have a source (or substitute) that I can order - perhaps also from NLD. / FRA / DE...

Re: Electrical Gauges Not Registering
Just to close this off - and many thanks again for the input from fellow Jag owners: it was indeed a wiring issue. I re-terminated a couple of highly suspect wires (W + W/B) running from the hot side of Fuse 6 to the hot side of Fuse 7 and all is now well.
